Porta-Bote Considerations
KB, I looked into the "Porta-Bote" back in '06. I wanted something fish when traveling in Motorhome. After much deliberation, ordered a SeaEagle Folcat 375fc. Have never looked back, extremely pleased. You might want to look at one. Good luck in your Quest.

Sea Eagle Fold Cat
Popeye. I've got the FoldCat 375fc Pro Angler Package. I've had it since Nov. 06. I've used it to float/fish the Taccoa River in N. Cent. GA. and Alot of ponds here in central FLa. It's comfortable & easy enough to handle by myself. Even easier if fishing with a buddy. It is not something I would want to wrestle to the top of my Jeep Grand Cherokee. You would need a roof rack of some kind, and the 75# is just the boat & floorboards only, no seats stiffeners etc. I don't believe that inflating/deflating hurts the boat, at least not mine. I have put in and taken out beside other brands on the river in GA. not much diff time wise to get ready or take out. mine fits in the back of my JGC with enough room left for equip for two men. Rods reels waders vests pfds cooler (you get the idea). It also handles reasonably well with a 30# trolling motor on the back. PM me if you want any more info. I'd give it a 2 thumbs up.

1st good day in 2008
Thanks Sam, Last year I joined the ranks of "homeless & unemployed" : otherwise known as retired. Spent most of the summer & fall fly fishing for Trout around Blue Ridge, GA. But the drought this year and changing addresses down here pretty well negated any trout fishing. So I proposed that if mama was buying a new house and I was relegated to fishing for bass here in FL, I should have a bass boat. She thought for a minute and said " I think you're right. I would hate to have you die wondering what it would have been like." Am I a lucky guy or what? Not only that she will join me if I don't make it an all day marathon . So we usually do an afternoon for her at least every other week. And yes I think today was just getting primed. 5 of the fish came from an area no larger than 50 feet in dia. Kinda felt like they might be starting to stage. (we can only hope). Tight lines.

Lake Jasmine (Jessamine) 12-29-07
LCpointerKILLA You are correct, it is lake Jessamine. I had only scouted out the ramp last summer, yesterday was my first day to fish it. Looks promising, only saw 2 other boats fishing it while we were there.

Those are some nice lookin' ladies. Take care of them and they'll treat you right. Congrats. BTW what did you catch them on?

slow day. Musta been too hot
You're right Avid, it was hot. At least we had a nice breeze going over here and the cloud cover actually made it pretty comfortable. Fished the winter park chain the last few days and couldn't really get anything goin to speak of kinda like your day today . Did a lot better over near the Conway chain today. Oh! and I got my first Pickerel today and yes I retied immediately. Definitely sounds like the shoulder has healed pretty well.

Lake Jasmine (Jessamine) 12-29-07
Tried for the Conway chain this morning, but by the time we got there the parking lot was full. So decided to hit Jasmine since was so close. Started fishing Traps & Arucu Shads. first fish came on the edge of the grass. Mostly Dinks. As we moved off shore a bit and fished the points and offshore weeds, things picked up. My partner today was just getting used to his new B/C setup. He lost 3 at the boat before he finally landed a 2lbr. Oh! me? 20 or maybe a couple more only 3 1.5's and 2 2's & 1 2.5. all in all, a pretty nice day to be on the water. Sorry folks no pics today. Hope all of you have had safe and happy holidays, and wishing each of you a happy new year and a double digit.

Congrats, Kinda early to be opening your Christmas presents. Way to go.

only dinks today
Still not a bad day Paul. Think back real hard now and remember one of those days that you couldn't get the skunk off and would have been really happy to see even half that many little fishies nice color to that one. I know you're joking about the name change, but I think you've earned the one you have now. Merry Christmas

Christmas is a time to think fishing
Well who'd a thunkit, George is quite the poet. Great one George, Merry Christmas to you & yours

The usage of Grubs
I've had good luck using them on a Dropshot or wiggle rig, on the edges of hydrilla. Also on a spot remover hopped along the bottom.

somebody go fishin' already !!!!!
OK OK Avid, I tried to post last night, but just as I finished typing & hit the post button, the board went into maintenance mode & I lost it. Sent it back up just now. Hope you get rid of the cold quickly, they are not fun.

12 -19-07 12-20-07 Central FL report
Sorry folks no pics this time. 12 -19-07 St. Johns River We put in a Mullet Lake Park about about 11 a.m.. Fished south to Lake Harney. We missed a few flippin and my partner got 3 on a T/R worm. I got skunked. Big fish 2 lbs. 12-20-07 Winter Park chain on the Way to the boat ramp, I told my partner I was going to open a can of " Whup a** " on Him today, to make up for yesterday . We had a good laugh over that, cause He really is a more consistent fisherman. We put in at Fort Maitland about 2 p.m. fished Maitland withS/B, Flukes, C/B and T/R worms. My partner missed 1 and I got 2 finesse fishing a T/R chartreuse/pepper flaked worm on the edge of the grass. Things were pretty slow, so at 4:45 p.m. we moved over to Lake Osceola. Week before last, the fish had been schooling in the action was fast and furious. But today we didn't see much surface action. We located some birds circling and occasionally diving. When we got near them we found schools of the small baitfish being worked to the surface. I got 10 on in Arucu Shad, and 1 Spec. My partner ended with 3 on a Rattle Trap. Things died as quickly as they started, and things were over with by about 5:30 p.m. All in all, not a bad afternoon outing. Big fish 1.5 lbs.
