  1. You are correct Hank in that these are a fine bunch of folks. Welcome aboard.
  2. Welcome to the treasure chest of Bass Fishing. These folks will definitely open your eyes and mind. Just another ROF (retired old fart)
  3. Welcome!! Come on in and make yourself at home. But don't forget to wipe your feet. Asheville.... hmmm, Biltmore Estate, French Broad, beautiful area.
  4. CGH, I've got 2 of those and use them to maintain both battery banks on my RV. No complaints. Go for it.
  5. Steezy, Since it's difficult for you to feel the bite, try a wacky rig with a circle hook. No hookset needed, and when they swim off, the hookup should be in the corner of the mouth. Good luck.
  6. Hope your Birthday celebration was indeed a happy one UL. Good God 50 is so far in the rear view mirror I can't see it anymore. Oh! Wait!! I think my CRS is acting up again. It just gonna get better. N O
  7. mikey16, actually the river flows OUT of Monroe @ the I-4 bridge. just a minor detail. Nick O
  8. ljmax, I think what you're asking about is the Withlacoochee River. Can't help on boat ramps, but a search on google earth or ms virtual earth will help.
  9. Sam, I have a Lowrance 522c. After one year it too started to shut off by itself. time might vary but usually within 5-10 minutes. It was a malfuction, sent it to Lowrance and they sent me a refurbished on that has been flawless the the last year and a half. BTW my other Lowrance a 50X on the bow had no problems. Goodluck.
  10. BB, follow your gut on that. A little common sense goes a long way. "Heavy weeds" just added a very different element to the equation. I frequently fish a small lake, mostly from the bank and don't fish the UL because of the heavy shoreline Veggies. BUT if I'm boating it, that's an entirely different ballgame. Good post,
  11. Went over to "Target" got some metal shower curtain rings. They do a pretty good job. But you might want to have a round hole paper punch handy when the holes in your bags rip out. Let us know what you end up doing.
  12. Don't know if you've done any searches here on the forums for "mendit", cause if you had, you would have known that you won't find "mendit" at walgreens. Look closely at the package or bottle. Betcha it says "Mighty Mendit" a whole different product.
  13. The Medium Action rod I suspect is the culprit. Not enough backbone to bury the barb. Just a guess. I set up on a 2 lbr with a bronze eye last Sat. using a TDP 7'6" hvy. Sent that poor little guy airborne about 4 feet.
  14. The man got me there. Don't need an AC outlet. You can get a small pencil soldering iron powered by AA batteries at Radio Shack. As stated before use in a well ventilated area. Preferably with a fan blowing directly on you.
  15. Well down here in central FLA, we've got shell beds in the lakes, retention ponds and way inland on the St. John's river
  16. Sssaaahhhwweeett !!
  17. X2 I've got relatively small hands and I don't reposition either.
  18. Split ring pliers. Here is link to some over at BPS at least you can see what they look like. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_20891____SearchResults
  19. Great fish Tallydude. Lake Placid eh? Years ago, one of my uncles used to winter down there. Congrats on a great fish.
  20. I bought one a few months ago. They are not the DO ALL - END ALL. But a valuable tool none-the-less. I use hemo-stats when fly fishing (best I've found for that) and used needle nosed pliers for the last several years when bass fishing, but about every six months or so I found that the jaws on the pliers were sprung. So now I use the BD type when beating the bank and the pliers & the BD style when in the boat. I think it goes with what you can afford and are comfortable with.
  21. Hey Grimlin, did you mean 4.7:1 ratio on that reel? Just checkin'
  22. WOW is right. I got 2.5 gal for $60 tax incl. back in May. Just have to look around and buy in bulk.
  23. IMX is one of those big wide screen theaters for special effects. GLX is a stool softener. Can I go home now?
