  1. Are you shore bound or do you have a boat? if boat how big & what kind? ie bass boat, canoe, kayak etc. If you have some kind of boat, the Winter Park Chain is pretty good, tho you'll need a sticker if you use a motorized vessel.
  2. The front went thru last night, mild as it was. Got out for about an hr this evening. 9 fish on consecutive casts in an area about 10 feet in Dia. Jumped off 3 more in the next 6 casts. Then it went dead. I'd say no to the fight scaring off other fish. BUT this is fishing and there are always exceptions to the rules. 1076 LMB so far this year 1> 7lbs 1> 6lbs 17> 4lbs 44> 3lbs
  3. BTW, the screen name is no1 as in no one. I'm not so concieted as to use a title like Number One tho I can see how some would read it that way. No offense taken, the coffee just hasn't civilized me yet this AM. Oh Boy!!! I can not explain the physics of the process. I had read a year or so ago about closing the bail by hand to eliminate the line twist, decided to give it a try and by golly it worked. Then I read about braid being even easier to work with, and found that it was. Tho it might just be a bit on the expensive side for the kids. Another thing that I see kids and some adults doing as well, is cranking while the drag is slipping. That's another good reason for line twist. Maybe some one else can jump in here to explain the reason why it actually creates the twist when cranking the bail over. Badly intended information is worse than no information at all.
  4. Are you fishing your worms or Senko's weightless? I'll bet not and that you're fishing them either Texas or Carolina rigged. The weight will prevent/slow down the line twist in this case. I'm assuming a lot, since you really haven't said anything about whether you close the bail by hand or crank it closed. Mono & Flouro are notorious for line twist & loops on spinning outfits. Tell us how heavy is the Flouro you are using? But as I've said before, I'd bet that your 2 biggest culprits are not rigging the Flukes straight and Cranking the bail closed. The direction you twitch left or right won't have any affect on the spin/spiral. (Oh boy! I think I just left open that one up for muddy). Instead of respooling, try walking out the line off the reel (nothing on the end of the line) and reeling it back on. Later 8-) from sunny Cent FL
  5. A couple of things. By the sounds of it you're using mono or Flouro for line, which would indicate that your bait is spinning a lot under water. Try to get it hooked straight that should eliminate a lot of the line twist. Another thing is to close the bail of the reel with your hand instead of cranking the handle to close it. If that doesn't do it, then add a very small swivel if you must. Using braid with a mono or flouro leader will virtually eliminate the twist. Still close the bail by hand. BTW I wouldn't be surprised if you get a lot of loops on your spool too don't you? Good luck & tight lines.
  6. Welcome! I grew up 30 mi west of Missoula MT. Great country you have out/up there.
  7. Welcome
  8. Glad you could join us.
  9. Welcome. The Conway chain is cool.
  10. Naw, no trouble. As I wrote in one of the other posts. The scrounger has proven to be a good search bait for me this year. The 1/8 oz with a Tiny Fluke on it thrown on a Shimano Clarus 7' 0" Light extra fast with a Sahara 1000 Spooled w/Suffix braid 6 lb. flouro leader. I have only long bill scroungers at this time and am really happy with their performance. The heavier like the 1/4 oz and up will carry a super fluke. I have found on many an occasion that a slight pause on the initial strike will give them more time to take the bait. Just like crank baits, too quick a setup will result in a "Had a bite" syndrome. The fish will tell you what you need to do. Haven't tried swimming a worm or grub on one yet, maybe that's next. BTW the 1/4 oz and up can be thrown on your regular crankbait rods. Most of the time for me it's a do nothing bait. Cast & Retrieve, that's it. 1/8 oz = Tiny Fluke 2 3/4" 3/16 oz = Fluke or Fin-ese 4" 1/4 oz + = Super Fluke 5" *NOTE I have not been pleased with the action of the 5" Super fluke by Zoom (too rigid). I buy a store brand from a local tackle shop, they seem to have much more action to them. They are not the cure all end all, but I like knowing they are in the box and seem to work most of the year just match the size to local forage. PM me if you have any other ?? Good Luck & tight lines

  12. Just thankful that I have two hands to work with... Decisions decisions ... do I buy righty or lefty my oh my what to do, what to do.
  13. GREAT shot Larry. That is sooo cool.
  14. Ata boy. On my boat, I have to beg my partner to take the bow for awhile. He has his own boat but would rather fish from mine. I'm glad we got this settled, so let's put this to rest.
  15. Well, we're into the third page and we still don't know who owns the boat. That aside, this seems to be a point with you. So it's either speak up or shut up. If you shut up, it will eat at you from the inside. Good friend, Best friend or Close friend it starts something like this "Friend's name, listen, I need to talk to you, there's been something that's really starting to wear on me and I need to talk about it..." Either he is going to listen or not. I can tell my best friends that they have a bad case of DOG BREATH in the morning and not worry that they are going to be offended. They have told me that it looks like I am on strike against Gillette ( need a shave). Best of luck to you. BTW WHO does own the boat???
  16. Good Lord, I'd be happy to get something like that a couple times a month. Great fish..
  17. Congrats to Brett. Did you get a date with Bertha for next Feb/Mar ?
  18. Rich, I have the Sea Eagle Foldcat 375 (two man) 3yrs and just ordered the 285 Frameless Pontoon. Just sold a canoe and have a Stratos 176 XT in the garage. Here in Central FLA there are thousands of small lakes and retention ponds that these inflatable pontoon boats give new access to. The 2 man (375fc) I also use to trout fish the rivers in N. GA, TN and NC. I carry my inflatables in the back of my Jeep Grand Cherokee. With room for tackle for 2 anglers. One thing tho. don't believe the 5 minute thing. It's more like 15(and that's with an electic air pump), I must like it, I just ordered the 285 for the days I go solo. The six month return policy was one of the things that sold me on the Sea Eagle products. Don't know your financial situation, but if you can afford it, I can highly recommend the Sea Eagle. PM me if you need more info. http://www.seaeagle.com/
  19. An amazing thing about marriage.. "Men marry hoping she will NEVER change Women marry hoping he will " Congrats & Best wishes,
  20. THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!!!!! Lived in Largo 98-06 didn't start fishing for Bass til I moved up here in '06. A lot of folks would be truly surprised to see what some of these retention ponds can produce. Nice fish man I mean really nice.
  21. Praying for your dad, you and the family.
