  1. I use a medium casting rod or a medium spinning rod. I prefer the spinning rod. Both have braid
  2. I don’t have a favorite setup as all my rods and reels are tools for different jobs but if I had to pick one I’d probably take my fury 703c. I can do a lot of different things with it
  3. I used to fish a private HOA lake at my parents vacation home in the poconos when I was a kid. They had a rowboat and we’d always toss floating rapalas off the back while we were rowing from spot to spot. We caught a lot of smallmouth doing this.
  4. I’m an original power pro guy. I never once worried about fishing seeing my “faded green line”. I find something that works for me and stick with it. If fishing a leader or “no fade” braid gives someone more confidence then go for it.
  5. Wasn’t that line called berkley trilen transoptic? If not they did make a similar line and it was called trilene transoptic.
  6. I used to be a st croix guy until about 7-8 years ago when I tried Dobyns. Dobyns rods has just about any rod you’d ever need for bass fishing. They are also very good about answering the phone or emails when you have a question. I called them up last week with a few questions I had about a rod. I spoke with Mike, who was very helpful.
  7. Not sure what happened to this line. It was never the strongest but was the most manageable mono for spinning reels. I bought a spool of 8lb today for a finesse rod and the line would break just tying knots. I’ve Been using this line on spinning gear for 20 years when not using braid. this was the first spool I’ve purchased in a few years. Maybe I got a bad spool? Either way trilene XL no more for me
  8. I carry a pool thermometer in my tackle bag
