I always experiment with weights. I’ll change my weight size before I change colors. I’ve had days where a heavier weight outfished the lighter weight and vice versa

I’ve had the same issue when I was experimenting with braid to leader for crankbaits. I think it was due to the fact the line was constantly being casted in and out of the guides. Went back to mono or straight braid on casting rods

Usually with a weight 1/8-1/2oz depending on depth. Dont overlook throwing them weightless in shallow water especially around grass

I’ve never had the Alberto fail on a fish but have had it fail casting and when cinching the knot it would fail occasionally right above the knot like the OP said. I’m not a fan of connection knots in general but continue to use the Alberto on spinning gear due to how easy it is to tie. 7 wraps up 7 wraps down

I use cheap polarized amber lens glasses from Walmart. Had green mirror costas years ago but lost em. I honestly couldn’t really tell much of a difference between the costas and the $5 Walmart glasses

I would go with the fury 734 or 735 depending on how heavy the jigs and swimbaits are and how heavy the cover you’re fishing.

Never fished a Veritas but I own 8 Dobyns fury rods. The Dobyns fury medium heavy rod is more like a medium power rod and their heavy power rod is more like a medium heavy. What are you looking to do with the rod?
