  1. I guess I didn’t put enough backing on
  2. Is this reel overspooled? Or does it look ok?
  3. St croix premier casting rod. Couldn’t stand that bulky foregrip
  4. Don’t remember my exact first but have fond memories in middle school and high school heading to a friends everyday after school who lived across the street from a 13 acre pond. At the time, the pond was fairly low pressure and no watercraft was allowed. We’d sneak an old fiberglass canoe on. We’d carry it about 200 yards down the block across the street and head out with one rod each, usually a 5’6”-6’ ugly stik or a bass pro brand spinning rod with 6lb mono. floating rapalas and weightless plastic worms were all we used and we slammed em. 25-30 fish days in 2-3 hours with the Average sized fish 2 1/2-3lbs with the largest we’ve taken probably a little over 6. Years later now the pond is heavily pressured, allows boats and kayaks and gets pounded by the “bucket brigade”. any fish over 3lbs is a bonus and the days of 30 bass in 2-3 hours are long gone! You’d probably be lucky to catch 30 bass here now in a full season. time flies, this post brought back good memories
  5. Strongest is original fireline. I don’t use it though, it’s thick and piano wire like until it gets broken in. I use original power pro which has worked fine for me since I started using it over 20 years ago
  6. What’s the deal with everyone hating on EWG these days
  7. Yup works great for baby brush hogs and 7” power worm too
  8. Caught one of my biggest fish here in NY on a zoom ole monster
  9. 2/0 gamakatsu EWG
  10. The brighter green patches. I have it all over mainly In the shady areas of the yard. Both front and back
  11. Anyone know what this is in my grass?someone told me it could be from overwatering. It’s spongy like
  12. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Mustad_Wacky_O-Ring_Replacement_Pack_25pk/descpage-MWO.html?from=gshop&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIiruqo7za_wIV7UByCh28qAvTEAQYASABEgLdQvD_BwE
  13. I’ve had no issues with a single o ring I have had issues with the wacky hooks that have a weed guard
  14. Depends where you’re fishing. Around a a lot of grass? 30lb braid anything else 12-15lb mono would be fine
  15. Like I said they’re fine with rings. I like hooking through the bait with a tube so I find neko hooks to be a better option
  16. Those style hooks are fine if you use o rings or crossover rings but if you hook it through the senko directly or with a piece of tube/shrink tube the weed guard has trouble collapsing. The weed guard will actually hit into the bait causing it to not fully collapse
  17. I use the vmc neko hook # 1 or 1/0 for 5” senkos. I would avoid any weed guard, especially the ones that have the wire type style that come on the vmc wacky hook and gamakatsu finesse wide gap. The hooks are too small and the weed guard most of the time gets deformed and/or falls out after a few fish. If you need to fish weedless I just fish it Texas rig style
  18. You are overthinking things. I’ve left leaders tied on for months with no issues.
  19. It was a complete joke. Many people were not happy about it
  20. 50lb braid and fish a frog. If they’re not eating that slow down and pick apart the whole area with a Texas rig or jig
  21. For braid put the spool of line in an empty bucket or empty box so the filler spool can’t move around. For mono and fluoro either have the line come off the bottom of the filler spool or lay the spool flat on the floor and make sure the line comes off the filler spool counter clockwise. Make sure you pinch the line as tight as possible between fingers when spooling. More often than not wind knots are user error or due to bad line lay. Make sure you close bail by hand and make sure you line is laying even on the spool
  22. You’ve gotten some of your biggest fish that way, but it’s not efficient? Like the previous poster said pitch a 3/4oz grass jig around or pitch a Texas rigged creature bait around with a 1/2-3/4oz weight. Fish the edges and pockets
  23. I’ve been impressed with the black max for $49. I broke my cranking reel and needed a reel fast so hit walmart and they had a bunch. I haven’t even replaced it with something better. Granted I only crank early in the season for maybe two months due to the excessive weed growth around here it’s held up well with 12lb mono. I’ll use it until it dies
  24. I used to use heat shrink tube before o rings were a thing and had issues with hookup to land ratio using standard wacky hooks. I’ve converted all my wacky and Neko fishing over to vmc Neko hooks in #1 and 1/0 for stick baits. My buddy who uses the Arsenal tubes has no issues as well using the Neko hooks
  25. It’s a Yamamoto bait, not much else you can do. 6 fish on any Yamamoto bait is a win
