  1. YEs I did the extension and the step between the seats. The extension was cheap and easy and will make a HUGE differenc, it definately needed it.
  2. Good Luck on finding any info on this boat. I have been looking for almost a year with no luck. I bought one ( 1986 1570 ) off of Jason from this forum for 1700 and I am very happy with it. It needed a new floor which I put in this winter and new carpeting. The boat is only rated for a 115 max and I wouldnt recomend putting anything bigger on it as it does sit very low in the back even with a 110 ( I do have a 24v system on it though. It handles very very well but in big water swells you will get water over the front and back so if you see some big wakes coming jump down in to the middle of the boat ;D. Here are some pics.
  3. you could cut a small X in the carpet or just one slash where you need to put the bolt through and then it will just lay back over the bolt head.
  4. Starting it with ear muffs is fine. Its the Dry starts that will kill the water impeller and eventually could smoke the motor.
  5. I dont know if this is what your getting at but never dry start it. Always use ear muffs or have it in watter. There is a rubber impeller that is in the lower unit and the water actuall lubricates it. If you do dry starts it will prematurely ware it out and could cause over heating. So yes if you start it at a ramp before you put your boat in that is wrong and could cause damage even smoke and engine eventually.
  6. I purchased this trolling motor last may and I love it. It has great power and is very easy to stear. For the money oyu cant find a 24v in that range. Well worth the buy.
  7. Ya good deals are out there. I bought this boat last year for 1700 off of this site. It needed a floor and carpet but I did that stuff just a couple of weeks ago and still have less than 2100 into it.
  8. goto tackle tour . com and in the tips section there is a guy that has a diagram for charging your battery while you trailer it. He has the same issue as you. Sorry for not putting a link but it wont allow me to link to tackle tour.
  9. There is enough water on top of the ice to just about float a boat. This weather sucks. I hate Michigan winters. :'(
  10. Well its all done but I just have to get the seats.
  11. 1st If your current cover is an acryic blend it shold not be rotted. To test take some materials and pinch it then try to tear it. IF it tears easly then yes its rotted. IF its just the stiching coming apart more than likely they used a cotton thread and yes it no good and can be restiched. 2nd if it no good an you need a new cover someone can use it as a pattern but I personally never liked to do that because it never fits correctly due to shrinking and streching in areas. As far as getting one make for 2-300 is cheap if your looking for a good material. If you know someone who mkes them then they might be able to make one at cost for you which is about 3-400 pending on material. I used to do upholstery and boat cover s for 8 years but luckly I kept in touch with my old boss and I can get my materials at cost and I love to sew and make my covers. Good luck.
  12. CARP7 said it correctly. I too have a 65AT 24v and love it. MY good friend has a power drive on his boat. It is nice if your in open watter and jsut want ot put it on a slow speed and just concentrait on casting and not haveto worry about the motor. But if your in tight areas or just want to work a specific area the foot control is by far much better. To be honest after awhile you wont even think about what your doing with the foot control and its second nature. It may sound stupid but your more connected to your boat and more in control. Just My Opinion. Good LUCK.
  13. Thanks NAFTA for our problems.
  14. I will call you tomorrow. Saturday sounds good. Laura works saturday so when ever is good.
  15. Yes Jason its yours. Ya the floor I had to add some bracing to to make it through the summer but it made it. Now its time to fix it. The motor was flawless except the reverse issue. ITs started every time with out any issues what so ever. I plan on extending the deck back about 2 feet to add more casting area. I still think it was a wonderful deal. I will keep posting as I do more.
  16. Well I started yesterday and tore the floor out and got some grinding done. Got too cold so I hade to quite. Its only 5 degrees here in MI.
  17. That would add a ton of weight. Good idea but would add to much weight and cost alot more. Save the money you would spend on composit and have a good custom cover made so it wont get wet.
  18. I havent been upto lake Bellaire in about 12 years but when I would go up there it was great for smallies and walley. I taked to a DNR officer when I was up there last and he told me that 90% of the fish in that lake die of old age and that there is more species of fish in that lake than any other lake in michigan other than the great lakes.
  19. I love Euro Super Cars but I have to say the 71 Cuda by Johnson's Hot Rod SHop. Its a 1 off car and its worth every penny of the 800 Thoushand + price tag.
  20. I love American Muscle as much as everyone but you cant denie the **** for calrs like the Hyundai 300hp V6 Rear Wheel Drive http://jalopnik.com/cars/la-auto-show/la-auto-show-hyundai-rwd-coupe-322863.php And Nissan's new now available in America 450hp V-6 GT-R http://www.automobilemag.com/future_cars/2008/0604_2008_nissan_skyline_gtr/index.html
  21. I used to do canvas work for 8 years. Pending on the material there are certain things that can cause water leakage. If it is an cotton blend more than likely its getting old and needs to be replaced, so trying to use a waterproofer might buy you some time. If it is an acrylic blend most will last many many years if taken care of. Acrylics are all waterproof from the manufactuing process, but what happens is they get dirty and that allows the water to seep through. Just like touching a tent when its raining. So I would clean it with a brush and alot of dish soap and get all the dirt off. If there is alot of mold on it use a preasure washer on it but BE CAREFUL and keep a SAFE distance from the cover. If all the dirt is gone it should once again not allow the water to seep through. Hope this helps.
  22. Michigan paid for the buy out. I wish he would of stayed there. The Spread is a great offense but it sacrifices D and that is what UofM has always been is a tuff D. And the rest ofthe Big 10 is going to run all over the D now. C'mon Jimzee, are you really telling me that if a more presitigious job opened up in your line of work that would pay you more money you wouldn't take it? Yeah, I probably would, but that's the funny part. WV salary per year: 2 million Michigan salary per year: 2.4 million Cost to buy his way out of WV contract: 4 million Taking 10 years to break even with what you already have: PRICELESS!! For everything else there's Sellout Card, endorsed at most major sporting events worldwide.
  23. If the Pagoni falls through you could always go and get a FXX, Koenigsegg CCX, or the TVR Cerbera Speed 12. or the ultimate RUF CTR3. Just messing the Zonda is sweet.
  24. Mich what we will be doing is just casting for hours because the fish just arnt hitting but oh well its just good to get out.
