  1. It is in the sun all day. That's why I have concern.
  2. I have a new Enduramax trolling motor that I bought 2 years ago. I still haven't gotten my plastic bass boat straightened out, so I've been storing the trolling motor. For a while, I just left it attached to the front mount of the boat, but I finally took it off and put it in an old car I use for storage. Is there any reason that storing it in a hot car would cause issues with it?
  3. For me it's been flukes, jigs, baby brush hogs as my top players. Secondary would be crankbaits, ribbontail worms, topwater in the from of spit'n images and jitterbugs. Last year I caught a lot on a split shot rig using a power worm and a finesse worm. This year, the times I've tried it, it hasn't done as well.
  4. What things affect the rod's Power. Is it simply the diameter of the blank? I assume also the thickness of the blank's walls also. What makes 1 rod a Medium vs a M/H? Is it merely that a M/H is larger in diameter with thicker walls, and thus is stronger?

I wonder, on those days that seems like nothing is working because of the pressure, if a pink fluke or trick worm might entice a couple.

Now we're talking! I'll have to get some pink flukes I reckon.
  7. I have an Abu Black Max rod. The tiptop insert came out. So I removed the tiptop. It appears to be a size 6. However, it's a bit loose upon trying to replace. I went down to a 5.5, and it's better, but still has a bit of play. Should I go down to a 5, which would probably be a tight slip fit? In other words, do you want any gap at all, or do you want the tip to be as tight as possible? ---------- Other details, I've been dealing with this rod and replacing tips on it for a while. I have replaced the tip with another size 6, and with that 5.5, and both of them would eventually twist on the blank during use. I have tried cleaning the blank with alcohol. Roughing the blank up with scotchbrite pad. Roughing the inside of the tiptop with fine sandpaper. 2 different glues 3 tiptops Plus, the blank broke just past where the tiptop is, so I had some fresh area to work with, and I've have the same issues there.

Thanks guys. Basically, similar to the way you'd use chartreuse.

What do pink flukes imitate? When should I be throwing them?
  10. Someone stole the knob. It appears walmart is raising the price on it.
  11. Dang that's fancy. I can't tell for sure, do you have headlights in the front?
  12. Mhmm. Seems like if I'm having a bad day, a short trip always perks me up.
  13. Interesting discussion. Thanks all.
  14. Thanks for sharing Jesse.
  15. Ott Defoe in this video, about 7:00 is talking about bass moving in to the area after hearing the commotion of others being caught. It immediately got me to thinking. I wonder if there is a hub that is something that bass love, a key feature, or location, that the majority of the bass in a reasonable area pass through on a regular basis. My thinking is, let's say there is a spring, for example, all the bass know it. And maybe they don't sit on it all the time, but dozens to hundreds of bass will visit it every day. Is this a thing? Is it crazy?
  16. Thanks everyone. I figured out that it needs a lot of slobber to get the knot to work right.
  17. I've always used buzzbaits off and on since I fished when I was a kid. I watch some Ott Defoe, and he loves his buzzbait, but mostly, it seems that it's a lure that folks have moved away from. Am I mistaken there? How much does everyone here throw one, and how much do you see or know of others throwing one?
  18. No pictures for me, the phone is down currently. Rest assured, me and the boy are slaying them lol. Caught a nice 2 1/4 pounder today on a fluke. Not to mention a handful of smaller ones. Got to introduce them to the boss!
  19. While Dick's might be the closest, ebay ships everywhere. Spend $40 on a good used reel and then buy a cheaper rod. I seen a couple Bass Pro Qualifier reels on there in that range. I have a Berkley Cherrywood rod for keeping in the car. I'd rather have a good reel and a cheap rod than the other way around.
  20. I will have to try a better brand of fluoro. The only reason I am interested in fluoro is because of a heavily pressured city lake I fish. Will fluoro help entice pressured fish into biting? Or, is it not going to contribute to getting bit under those circumstances?
  21. I appreciate all the responses. Gives me a lot to chew on.
  22. There is a BlackMax combo at one of my walmarts that is $50. The other walmart has them for $75. The $50 though is missing the spool tension knob. If I purchase it, will Abu send me a knob? And if not, what's a knob going to cost me?
  23. Can you point out which one of those reels in that link are the equivalent to the BPS Platinum?
