  1. Well, I'm not hauling it currently, as I don't have a trailer that's suitable. The vehicle I'll be using is a 2001 Chevy Tracker. I get around 30 miles to the gallon on the highway. I've towed a trailer with a dodge cummins for work, but never was concerned about the mileage, with work buying the fuel.
  2. Thanks. I didn't know they move things with their mouth. So they might move a rock that's in their bed for example.
  3. After things become clear... perhaps you'll reconsider where you have been throwing your lures, and you're catch rate will either increase or decrease.
  4. I've not tried a lot of Mustad hooks, but the ones I have, I like.

    Howdy and welcome from Kentucky.
  6. I've had less luck with black and blue, but I have always thrown it with a dark blue rage craw trailer. I am going to experiment with some different trailers and see if the color or the shape of the trailer causes black/blue to be the stuff.
  7. Never heard anyone say that Gamakatsu hooks were low quality. Would you care to elaborate?
  8. Being new to jig fishing hasn't stopped me from catching fish on black/blue, PBJ, and browns. Black/blue seems to be the least productive in the waters I've fished, but I haven't tried them in all conditions and waters yet.
  9. Thanks to you both. I won't like the sharp edges, so I probably won't try them. I wasn't aware of the black platinum line, I'll have to look at those. The hooks I used before were the bronze colored Lazer sharp hooks and they bent easily and rusted.
  10. Yes, I too like to see the pros when they are more lighthearted.
  11. I've seen several mentions of the Trokar line by Eagle Claw. I have pretty much steered clear of all things Eagle Claw beacause of the bad experiences I had with their standard line of hooks. About the only thing I like about Eagle Claw is that they are made in the USA. So, who likes Trokar hooks? Are they as good as Gamakatsu?
  12. I don't remember the name of the technique, but I've taken jig heads and heated them with a torch then dipped them in powdercoat. No toaster oven needed.
  13. Ike is full of energy for sure. He's got a different personality than other pro bass anglers, and most people. He did win a classic though, among some other things.
  14. Sounds interesting, I'll have to search for those.
  15. Very interesting, thanks @FloridaFishinFool. ------------------------------------------ I don't have an off season as we don't have hardly any ice here. I normally keep my drags pretty loose though becuase I rarely use anything over 12 pound test mono, and more normally 8 and 10. So with light to moderate pressure, how much damage does the drag incur by not being loosened when not in use?
  16. I really enjoy these videos, figured I'd share. KVD has a subtle humor.
  17. Thanks for all the replies.
  18. So, the rod handle goes in there and the tip stretches back to the back deck for the co-angler's rods?
  19. What are these 8 holes to the left, just aft of the rod locker?
  20. I'll do my best to catch a few on your behalf. I'll be praying for you too.
  21. This is what I'm figuring out Tom, thanks. I've been using the M/F Lews Hank Parker rod, and so far I am really liking it. It is slightly larger in diameter, and I guess, slightly stiffer of a Medium power that the Abu Black Max. Which I like. A bit more power, without being heavy and hard to handle.
  22. I second this, thank you Tom for all the knowledge you share.
  23. Tried a popper a few minutes, with nothing, so went straight to the jig. Building confidence in them still.
  24. That is a good one too!
