Flouro
If money doesn't matter this one is my personal favorite: Alternatively, if you are on more of a budget I also like this one: Gave both of these a try after watching this post from BassFishingHQ and there's some other ones in there that he goes over in case you are interested or it helps at all.

$1,100 Swimbait!?!
This thread has forced me to re-evaluate my concern about throwing a senko instead of a dinger.

St Croix GXR Systems Left Handed
Doesn't look like they have any left handed options on their site or on Tackle Warehouse. Given that I'd say no but if it means a lot to you I'd send them a message through their contact form on their website. That way they would at least know there's some interest in left handed combos. You could also just build a combo yourself. In this case the rod uses the SCII blank so that would be something like the Bass X or Premier...and for the reel the Lew's LFS was going for around $50 recently if you can still get one at that price that's probably what I'd do and then wait for a good sale on rods (eg. the 20% off at Tackle Warehouse sale right now for mailing list members) and you should have a very similar setup and probably save a few bucks.

Twice in a week.
Congrats on that one that is one of the best ways to catch them IMHO

Good personality
Congrats! Flukes are one of my favorites. I also like the 4/0 Gamakatsu screwlock but I like the 1/16 oz version to get a little more weight on them (without impacting the action too much). I also like the 6th sense version since the colors are a little nicer but one of my goals for the next 2 months is to find out if the lure with my personal color preference (6th sense) is really going to beat a tried and true fluke in the 'not as great of a color but the bass might not give a crap anyway' color. I also like the weightless Gamakatsu screwlock hooks but I use caffeine shads with that setup and it's a nice one to throw around docks since it has a bit more of a shimmy to it and they have a couple of good shad looking colors.

The latest sale thread
The email confirmation shows the discount applied (although the item is backordered). VF2500HGFA to go with the rod I mentioned a little further up in this thread and it looks like they just shipped everything else but that. Almost went with it from ALF yesterday but needed a few other things so figured I'd try this out to get the other items at 20%. Plus my thinking is there is probably already a line of others that bought that model from ALF already so I'd probably be a little higher up in line here (although their site was throwing a few 500 errors for me earlier so might not have been the only one to try it out earlier today).

Same for Dobyns rods (just grabbed a Sierra for $135).

$1,100 Swimbait!?!
OK so after clicking the link and carefully evaluating that lure and my stance on it I would argue that you could spend that money on TWO St. Croix Legend Xtreme Spinning Rods or the new Dobyns Xtasy rods ALF just posted about and catch more fish in one day with those than you will in your life with that lure. As an aside I will say it was nice of them to come out with that red looking lure underneath it which seems like it would match the color of your wife's face when she sees your credit card bill after you bought that thing...that one seems heavily discounted but still not something I would buy pretty much ever.

$1,100 Swimbait!?!
I heard if you buy that swimbait Chuck Norris appears out of thin air, jumps out of your bass boat and just telepathically pushes the heaviest bass in the lake right into your boat out of sheer willpower. If you try to throw them back into the water they will just keep trying to jump back into your boat. Also...I didn't event look at the link and would never pay that much for a fish lure...unless it was some sort of collectable and I knew for a fact there was some other idiot out there that was ready to pay more for it than I just paid.

Ark Rods....
I bought the old model b-hittay when tacklewarehouse had them on sale. It was an ok rod but honestly for a 'composite' rod it felt mostly like a glass rod and I thought it was a bit heavy. They sell that model as a bladed jig rod but IMO it's not that great for throwing a chatterbait...although I did like it for heavier crankbaits...that said I don't really like eva foam grips so I ended up selling it. Overall based on that experience and the price I paid / value I'd say they are ok, but there are better brands out there...also a bit funny that the rod was named after Brett Hite...but I'm pretty sure he would be using a combat stick over that one...anyway TLDR 3.5-4 out of 5...decent rod and components but nothing special and I personally think there are better rod brands out there.

This also looks like it works on their bargain cove stuff so just as an example if you pull up a cashion core spinning it's already on sale for $139 and then it gives you another 25% off

Fourth Rod Advice?
Every sunday for the last month or two most of their stuff has been discounted. Not saying it will be again but it has for the last several weeks. Tacklewarehouse is also going to be giving people on their mailing list 20% off in the next few days which is why I mentioned that. Either way you should probably be able to pick up whatever you decide on and save some money and they are both good outlets to buy a rod from.

Fourth Rod Advice?
7'4 heavy fast would be my choice. Works great for frogs, toads and punching rigs but you can also swap out the braid reel and throw smaller umbrella rigs or 6" magdrafts with it. In terms of brands Dobyns or St. Croix...the Fury is usually $130 or so and would make a fine frog rod. On the other hand if you are interested in doing more with 'medium heavy' swimbaits and still being able to throw frogs or punch with the same rod it might be worth stepping up to a Kaden (or Sierra) or a Victory. Either way I'd sign up for the tacklewarehouse mailing list or wait until Sunday and then checkout american legacy fishing and save yourself a few bucks...

Ten techniques to master
drop shot fluke texas rigged worm / craw wacky rigged senko spinnerbait chatterbait hard jerkbait lipless crankbait frog ...wow out of spots already for the 10th either a jig or a ned rig or shakey head...also Glen actually has a top 7 (I think it's 7?) lures video that's worth looking into and what led me to his youtube channel and eventually this site...and if you want another one I found this video interesting / informative: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dKujlxezKQ

The latest sale thread
Not sure how this turned into a St Croix thread but this ^ is wrong: I guess everything you read on the internet might not be true...As an aside this took me about 14 seconds to fact check and for the record I don't love what they did to the mojo line since I hold my spinning rods with my hand below the reel, but I will go out on a limb and guess ALF isn't dumping St Croix and their warranty service is very good IMHO...on a side note some site called Sportsmans Warehouse looks like they have a decent sale on a Cashion core spinning rod right now...haven't tried one (yet) but it caught my eye.

Replacing treble hooks with singles on whopper plopper - anyone done this?
I like the owner x strong hooks in a size 1 but I also like the choppo 90 or 105 so I think the ones I throw might be a little bigger. But that said I've also found I like a slightly larger single hook to replace a treble so I usually look at that chart they have and then go up a size.

Do you too ever reach a state where you're happy to simply be on the water?
Definitely. I actually got into kayaking before bass fishing...then one day I was in a pedal kayak and felt like I needed something to do with my hands so I figured I'd try bass fishing out. Now bass fishing is one of my favorite hobbies but I still like getting out on a kayak. This is also one of the main reasons I like a drop shot so much is it's a great kayak lure and you can just veg out for a bit and usually get just as many fish in the boat (if not more) than you would if you were throwing a reaction bait.

Just curious
I car top a 10.5 pdl and usually go for about 3-5 hours. I've gone for longer but honestly a half day is usually about enough for me and I prefer to get out as early as possible and finish up before it starts to feel like Satan's armpit outside.

Rod help : Jerkbaits
If it's a spinning jerkbait rod you are after I'd take a look at the mojo bass 7'2 medium moderate. You would be holding it above the reel but since that sounds like it would work for you it would be about another 4" off the length and put it exactly at the same length as the kaden I use. I really like the feel of st croix spinning rods (in fact their blanks are pretty much my favorite) and I even like the new trigon handles, but I keep my hand behind the reel with spinning rods so I can't really do much with most of their spinning rods these days (RIP old mojo bass) and have had to look elsewhere...although I did make an exception for my drop shot rod and still use a victory. The abu winch was another one I was looking at back when I was looking at spinning rods for jerkbaits and small crankbaits...haven't had any experience with it but it also looks pretty good and might be worth looking into a little more.

How many setups do you own?
At the moment 13 rods and a few less reels. Probably only need 8 or 9 but I really like to try stuff out so I always seem to have a few extra and then sell them only to repeat the process again...

Rod help : Jerkbaits
What specifically about the fury grip was off? I ask because I use the kaden 6'10 for a jerkbait rod and it's actually one of my favorite setups (and I pretty much only throw a 5/8oz lucky craft pointer minnow) so just wondering if it might have been something w/ the fury line or their grips in general...

Snapped a fury rod today
Funny I read the title and thought to myself...wow someone actually managed to break a fury while fishing...
