One week of fishing anywhere?
I would give anything to go back and fish with my younger brother again any amount of time anywhere. Unfortunately he passed away at 21. Aside from that I’m pretty content fishing where I do. I’m fortunate enough to get to fish anytime I want after work or as long as I please on the weekends. Maybe joining Jeremy Wade on one of those river monster adventures would be pretty interesting.

Okeechobee
Idk who are worse wake boats or jet skies. Rarely do I ever have a positive experience around either be it at the ramp or on the water.

Matt Herren Disqualified and Retires
Hes not retiring he's going to npfl. His son has openly admitted to "accidentally" giving him the information about where the previous weeks tournament was won. It's also been said Matt was never anywhere near the location his son gave him. My question would be why not self report? I would also think Matt should have known when his son started name dropping a location he should have told him to stop mid sentence. Personally I think the no info rule at this point is silly. With all the technology and other ways these anglers can find info this rule is useless.

Dollar Bill definitely gained a fan in me this tournament. Good for him and great interview.

Elites on the St. Johns Fl.
I'd like to see Bill win this. I didn't know much about him until this event. He seems like a nice enough guy and he's from my home state. Always like to see a "local" guy do well.

Is Bassmaster not showing live coverage today?

Elites on the St. Johns Fl.
Yeah it works fine on my phone as well. My point is it's easier to watch it on one of my TVs if I can just select FS1 or Roku channel. Insted once the broadcast on fs1/roku is cut i have to pull the broadcast up on my phone then cast then link my phone to my tv. It's a bit of a hassle and I'm sure a lot of people who are not tech savvy struggle with it. It also probably hurts the viewership overall but mabey not. On another not look at that 31 lb bag man that would be a day on the water.

Looks like our Indiana boy is going to stay on top today. I've watched the coverage off and on since the start of the week. Personally the only thing I havent enjoyed is the halftime show and the coverage being cut half through on roku and fs1. Yes I know you can watch it on Bass and link it to other devices but thats a little bit of a hassle in my opinion.

Good to see I'm not the only one going down with the ship in fantasy picks. Plenty of room at the bottom with me lol.

What's your bass fishing superpower?
I can't begin to count the nudity I've seen from people floting the rivers lol. I've managed not to have any incidents with hooking myself but I've been bit by a gar and a pike lol.

Any product should listen to its consumers. If enough consumers start to dislike it the product gets worse or ends altogether. Take NASCAR for example. The more they try to branch out the more the run off the hardcore fan base. Then the hardcore fans go elsewhere. Dirt racing, the cars tour etc. Nascar then shows they have these knockout crowds at select events but as a whole the product looses. Changes keep getting made product gets worse now NASCAR is talking about selling the majority stake by 2026. That has never before been a thought or possibility. All in all it stems from ignoring the fan base. On another note a lot of big names still showing zeros on the board. Take, Hammner, Feider, Combes,Kyoya, Lee etc. I find it hard to believe these guys are fighting off skunks but anything is possible.

Have they said why the broadcast on Roku only ran until 10am? Also doesn't look like the bags today will be anything special. Listening to Clunn and the guys was entertaining while Hackney was flipping docks. KJ Queen hauling his boat with a GM work van didnt get nearly enough attention. Tompkins also has a pretty neat tow rig. Looks like an old welder/pipeline truck.

Northern first bass guess
I’m guessing mid March off a river system. The lakes won’t be open until early April by the looks of it in northern Indiana.

What's your bass fishing superpower?
My super power is the ability to collect all the random and bad luck in the universe so others don’t catch it. Some examples would be birds flying directly into my stationary boat, a heard of cattle randomly appearing at the boat launch stopping me from loading and leaving( also having to get them back home I grew up on a cattle farm), pop up rain storms without a cloud in the sky, random dogs and one younger kid in my boat while tied off at docks, dink pan fish on glide baits, random people at gas stations asking me to take them to various places while I’m filling up my truck and boat( I probably get 30 or more of these a year). I even had someone leave a xxx video under the windshield wiper of my truck at a large public lake parking area.

Weighted Fluke?
Weighted hooks, on a drop shot, on a Carolina rig, split shot rig, flipping with a bullet sinker, double donkey rigs are all excellent ways to catch them that are heavier rigs. You can add nail waits in different spots to change the way a fluke acts.I like a a nail weight further towards the tail if I’m tossing it under docks or overhangs etc.You can also get really into it and find out what plastics the bait brand uses. The material itself along with salt content change sink rate. More salt, more sink on the down side salts a filler so generally higher salt content baits are less durable/tear easier. Taking a salted bait and rolling it in your hands to “ brake up” the salt can have some effect on sink rate.

Matching Reel with Rod and Primary Use
I would personally put the 6:4 on the Googan and the 8:1 on either ST Croix. The Googan rod would be ok for frogs and pitching, flipping, stuff like that. On a side note I would be prepared to toss that Googan rod in the trash. I had 3. All 3 had failures. 2 broke near the tip. One had the reel seat glue loose adhesive. They are terrible rods I absolutely would stay away from them. The St Croixs could both be pretty versatile throwing soft and hard baits. Top water walkers might be a little iffy getting them to work a bait correctly for action and they wouldn’t really be suited for deep cranking or frogging. If you’re looking to add another reel I would recommend looking at the Lews KVD series reels. I have 5 of them paired up on rods and haven’t had a single issue out of any of them. I use them for 80 percent of techniques swim and glide baits, frogs, pitching, punching, top water moving etc. I just went through and did clean up and maintenance after last year. They show almost 0 wear. I fished from February to November 3-5 days a week last season for reference. I also really like my Diawa reels but they aren’t quite as sturdy so I keep them on lighter equipment like plastic, small cranks.

Pro fisherman, popular YouTuber Ben Milliken charged with fishing tournament fraud
I’m gonna start by saying I’m a big fan of Ben. I also buy a lot of stuff from 6th sense. Ben’s part owner of 6th sense. I can’t remember the name of the main owner but he started out doing custom hard baits. Regardless of how people feel about Millikan 6th sense makes a lot of products that work as well or better than most. I watch a ton of fishing content and podcasts on all forms of fishing. From everything that seems fairly credibly reported from those sources the guy caught a sharelunker on an expired license. He then decided to turn it in for the benefit of sharelunker. At that time he realized his license was expired and renewed or bought a new one. Then proceeded to turn the fish in. The DNR only questioned the situation because someone took note of the time of license purchase vs time of catch. Now this is an angler who fishes all over the US and outside the US. I can understand not knowing a license was expired. I fish in 2 states for the most part neither of which have a very easy to use system and constantly change or add to what you need to purchase to be within the law. On top of that we’re talking about an angler who through sponsorship or independent wealth owns and earns way more than what would be gained through cheating what amounts to a very small prize for them. As others have said the whole things is based around intent. I personally don’t think he intended to brake the law and when he realized it he tried to rectify the situation. Then it blew way out of proportion through the fault of both parties. I can personally say I have absolutely forgotten to renew my license. The difference is I always check all my paperwork before I hit the water for the first time of the year. I have literally bought my license at the boat ramp. Did I intend to brake the law no.Did I intend to go fishing absolutely. Could I have easily gotten side tracked and forgotten to check my license status absolutely. Was he wrong for fishing without a license yes. I also believe the entire system for hunting and fishing laws could use an overhaul so it’s a good possibility some fault lies with the state. Does Ben make it harder for himself probably, some like his personality some don’t. I can’t say that every DNR official I have ever come across always has the best intentions either. In my opinion the best thing both parties could do is come together for the betterment of the sport. Ben has a huge following and could bring a positive light to the DNR as a whole if they settle for a light penalty and don’t hard line him. Community service, speaking events, YouTube videos etc all could be done to bring attention to issues like following the laws, correct angling practices etc.

What Fishing Gimmick Did You Fall For?
I started using double o rings x’d with a wacky rig hook last year. I noticed a big difference in the longevity of soft plastics. I don’t think affected hook up ratio one way or the other.

What lures do you intend to use more in 2025?
We’ve probably seen each other then. I fish the river a lot out of the Maggie’s launch and 6span but I go all over. Usually I go towards Syracuse or Plymouth on the weekends and Michigan during the week. I haul a silver 98 triton with a red 79 Chevy K10 with really dark window tint.

How many of you troll?
I too love crank baits. They are probably the top of the list for most used bait throughout the year. I’ve never heard the term spoon plugging.
