  1. Ah I thought they were referring to wind blown points or something like that. I fish down trees a lot on the river with varing success.
  2. I listen to a lot of podcasts and do a fair amount of reading. I keep seeing and hearing about fishing blowdowns but no explanation of what that is. I’ve been taking a beating trying to catch smallies and largemouth in northern Indiana this year so I’m looking for information on what I may be missing or just new things/ techniques all together.
  3. Out of curiosity can someone explain how those flashers work? I have a 98 triton that came with one in the dash. I tried using it but couldn’t understand it(I’m 35). So I ditched it and the factory lowrance at the bow for new hummingbirds. As far as this tournament trail I like it. Variety is the spice so they say. My understanding as far as funding is a Saudi group is invested. If I read it correctly it’s the same ones from Liv golf but I could be wrong with all the different happenings in BASS, Mlf, etc. I wish Randy and Millikan both would enter just to see who does what. I also wish we had limited to no ffs or graph tournaments locally. Either way I’m going to fish how I like and watch what interest me.
  4. I throw braid to Fluor leader on most of my stuff. I catch pike a lot and very large bowfin in southern Michigan. I have yet to loose a lure to the Fluro getting bitten off. Personally on my big glides and swimmers I run 50-65 lb braid to 20-30lb fluro.
  5. It must be the stores in your area. Most around me have a decent to large selection. I started using them last spring and have yet to have a bite or hookup with them. I’m not sure they will be in my boat after this year but I’m giving them an honest try.
  6. A white fluke with a green/white or silver/white fluke donkey rigged up shallow will change your mind. Cranks and spinner baits also work very well.
  7. 6th sense bone white dogma top water walking bait. I love top water walking baits but this specific one is magic on most of the water I fish.I have 4 other brands that look very very similar in almost the exact same color but nothing produces like this specific one. Runner up would be a jerk bait. I’ve had really good luck with Rapala shad colors.
  8. Spot lock and or power poles are far better than the old drop anchor. Drop anchors however only disturb fish for a very short period. Sometimes fish seem to notice my troller sometimes not. I believe they notice my transducer being on more than my troller. I’ve also noticed it depends what hertz settings I have my graphs on as to how much they seem affected.

@hokiehunter373 you and me both. Gotta go down with the ship.

4hrs left with a lot of big names having a tough go. Ike, Clunn, Joey C, Canterbury, Martin,Swindel, Feider outside top 50
  11. That’s a 6th sense provoke jerk bait. The led is to control the bait suspension. The treble being longer has to do with hookup ratio tuning in to how fish are striking the lure, and lure presentation, Milken, Ikonellie, Wheeler and a few others have talked about this on YouTube in depth.
  12. Walking top water Crank bait Some sort of walking frog jerkbait jig with or without trailer

I would like to see some sort of limitation on ffs. I have it and use it in tournaments. I rarely turn my graphs on when I’m fishing for fun. I think they take the fun/enjoyment out of the experience but if you want to compete you better use it to some extent.I watch a ton of these guys on YouTube. BLatt, Martin, Millikan, Fidel, etc etc. The least entertaining are videos based on FFs. I do like that Millikan brakes down what’s going on in his videos and is pretty open about what and why he does things. The guys excellent and has been since before he became famous. It looks like a lot of the older guys are really struggling when you look outside the top 30. I don’t know what bass or mlf can do to make the coverage more entertaining to watch. The anglers have to have a personality people want to see. Some people just don’t have that especially in a competitive atmosphere.
  14. @TnRiver46i don’t think so. I have 3 finesse rods rigged up but I can’t bring myself to pull them out of the locker. I don’t mind throwing a Carolina rig or speed worm on occasion but I can’t get behind the wacky rigs, Ned rigs, drop shots etc. I don’t have the patience.
  15. @RipzLipz I’m the same way, I absolutely refuse to finesse fish lol. I just can’t do it I get board after 5 minutes. I know I would have better results at times if I could commit to it.
  16. I went Friday after work and Sunday 12-4pm. Super stained river like 0-1 ft visibility and fast current. Nothing Friday not even on side or down images. Sunday I had one small bass follow a spinner to the side of my boat. Only one other person that I know of caught a dink finesse fishing. Water temps went from 38 last week to 41 but we’re about to get another cold front so it’s probably going to tank again. I’ve tried everything, glides, cranks, spinners, jigs, wind blown banks, deep water, shallow water you name it. It’s tough this time of year in my area. Guys are blistering panfish though.

Thanks for the welcome. I have the best luck with it when I add a small creature trailer. I also experimented with adding small jointed minnow style baits that generally go with a chatter bait. It gave mixed results.

Most of the water I fish is high pressure. I mainly bass fish but have done some catfish and panfishing. I’ve tried scented and unscented. My best days are with unscented hardbaits bass fishing. Throwing things that aren’t popular or just a little different in the right spots. I have found color makes a huge difference on a specific ultra clear lake. I do very very well on specific 6th sense jerk baits in red and silver or goldish. No others. I have tried similar other jerks in similar and different colors they flat don’t do as well. Same thing with spinner baits. I have specific ozark trail cheap Walmart brand in purple and green that out performs any of my others trailer or not. Now with catfish and panfish nothing has ever out done live bait or cut bait for me. None of the artificial catfish baits, not chicken livers, not dyed chicken breast none of it. I’m by no means an expert or any kind of hammer but I do fish 3-5 days a week on a lot of different waters so I’ve got a lot of time experimenting.
  19. I would personally look for a medium-medium heavy, moderate-fast rod somewhere between 6’8-7’4. Most rods in that range will have plenty of versatility. Shorter rods are great for limited space, tighter casting areas. Depending on your budget I would look into Lews, 6th sense, or Shimano.I bought a lews 7’4” mh Walmart special 3 years ago and have used the crap out of it. It’s not fancy and a little heavy but it’s reliable and I can toss everything from jigs, cranks, top water on it. I’m a big believer in 6th sense. I’ve caught fish on everything I’ve bought from them. Shipping and packaging is always on time or early. Very well packaged. I have 4 of their rods (mfer series) paired with lews reels and the feel great. I also have a handful of cheep rods and some more expensive stuff as well.Stay away from googan brand. I had 2 of there finesse rods break near the tip both less than 6 months old. I also had a muscle rod have the reel seat come apart after 8 months.
