*UPDATE*
Received the rod yesterday. Can say with 100% certainty, it’s a NWOT rod that came in factory bag (minus tags).
Saved a cool $200 over a “new” one and ready to order another 😎
Bantam or Metanium 100. If you are in a cold climate Oct-Mar/April, then Metanium. While the Bantam will get ice cold, the Metanium absorbs the heat from your hand making it more comfortable in colder temps.
Just pulled the trigger on a Loomis rod I’ve been after. Have heard great things about ALF. Anyone have experience with their “Mint Condition” used rods?
Thought I read somewhere their Mint rods are actually new but due to vendor price structures, they can’t discount new so they sell as used…hence the discount.
Any experiences to share?
I’d vote for the 7’3” medium heavy since to offset the 40lb braid. From experience, that combo keeps them nice and buttoned. I find going heavier has a tendency to rip the bait from them and make a larger hole in their mouth which can increase your risk for losing fish.
My $0.02
I never understand posts like this. For goodness sake, contact the retailer you bought it from, explain your situation, and find out what they would do. Either a return for refund or return for the correct reel would be the answer.
🤷♂️
Antares. Period.
I tried a 23’ Steez A II and wasn’t crazy about it. Palmed awkward for me. That was my last time trying Daiwa reels for a second time, and I was left underwhelmed again.
Shimano is the juice.
I just got in yet another Met 23’ from Digitaka. If memory serves me correct, the spool capacities are identical between the JDM Met 23’ and USDM 150B.
