Disagree. I’ve had USDM 21’ Zillions, JDM Zillions, and JDM Steez….all were not as smooth as my Shimano’s (Metaniums and Bantams). In fact, every single one of my Daiwa’s have been sold off. Nothing trumps a Shimano for me.

20# and up Sunline Shooter. I’ve used Shooter this full season and not once did i have a single issue with abrasion, knots, or break offs. It’s what I trust.

Another JDM Bantam and Met 100 along with a Phenix Feather 6’9 MH and. Phenix K2 765. The K2 blows the NRX out of the water. Never thought that was possible but from experience…totally is. Sensitivity on the K2 for me, is unmatched.

Phenix Feather, 6’9” MH. It’s perfectly spot on and doubles as a shallow-mid jerkbait and crankbait rod.

I’ve had some great success on FB Marketplace and have met some really great people selling fishing gear, truck accessories, and high-end guitars. Of course, I get the wackos as well. I love the extreme low ballers who think they are doing you a favor. If you write, “No trades accepted” it’s a guarantee someone will want to trade you their Walmart Lews combo for your high end JDM gear…..oh plus $20 in cash to “sweeten the deal”. Had one guy take something at asking price, arranged a meet up, then messages me on the way to meet if I would accept him taking the item that day, then meeting up “in a few weeks” to give me the cash. Yeah, no. You can usually filter the crazies out just by their opening messages. There’s an art to negotiation and low-balling is not one of them folks! If you low ball, my price is firm. If you offer with a somewhat reasonable number, I’m more than willing to negotiate a number that work for both of us.

The breakage issues you speak of were with the prior generation and I’m pretty sure they were related to user error. I personally had two of the prior gens and never had a single issue. Im confident the new gens are even better.

That makes perfect sense. While the prior gen makes a great chatter/spinnerbait rod, these will be perfect tx rig/jig/frog rods (open to light cover). The color is more of a deep copper in person. Natural titanium may have looked a tad sleeker but in all honesty, the copper provides a nice, subtle pop.

UPDATE…my local shop had a 7’3” MH in stock today. Really like the looks. The blank feels just a tad bit stiffer compared to the prior generation. My shop is holding it for me and Im going back to get it tomorrow. I can already tell it would make a great texas rig, 3/8oz jig, and frog rod. Only thing we were looking at is the open end cap on the butt. The butt of the rod is hollow and with the open end, i can see debris getting in there for you bank bangers. Ill provide an update once I pick it up snd get it out on the water next week.

Do it!!!!!! I buy ALL of my reels from Japan. Digitaka to be exact. Never once had an issue. I can order Saturday night and get the reel Tuesday or Wednesday. All of my Metanium 100’s and Bantams are JDM examples. I believe all of the present day versions of Metaniums from Japan (2020, Shallow, and 100) have brass gears following the 2016 release with the aluminum and reported “buzzing” I also ordered a JDM Met 100 from Amazon that came the next day with no issues. I will probably never buy a high end reel within the US ever again.

I had the prior model (pre-2024) in a 73mh. Loved it for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits on fluorocarbon and light texas rigs with braid. Was such a fun rod. ALF has some of the 2024’s in stock now. Can easily see myself getting a fleet of them should I ever divert from Phenix.

I tried the 874crr. Was not impressed. Was a complete broomstick. Promptly sold it. Can’t even imagine what the 875crr would be like! Actions and power seemed more suited to punching or frogging.

Interesting on the Virtus rods because Phenix announced new rods at iCast that were a blue and red series, with cork handles, built in the USA. Looks like Virtus is getting absorbed into Phenix I’d say.

Another Metanium 100 arrived today from Japan. Picked up a Curado 300k yesterday for a swimbait reel as well. And a Phenix K2 765 on it’s way. Pimpin’ ain’t easy folks 😎

How and where is this 20% off? Just looked at an NRX+893 and it shows at full retail.

I would encourage you to look at the Feather for your intro to Phenix. Phenomenal rods all around.

Hey gang, Am really impressed and love my Phenix Feather rods. Love the actions and sensitivity is great. I sprung and bought a K2 765c to use for bottom contact applications. Saw a few reviews that stated it better than an NRX. Was curious if anyone here had any experiences they might be able to share with the K2’s? Really like the styling of all the Phenix rods.

I’m in the learn to do it yourself camp. Get yourself the Berkley Spooling Station. It’s a cool $30. I spool everything myself and have a line counter where I can measure the line going on. It really is very easy to do and convenient. If i'm in a pinch and don’t have the spooling station, spool goes in the boat bag and I spool from there. Going into full Dad mode now…but spooling your own line is a lot like cleaning yourself after a #2. Once you learn how to do it, you can’t imagine anyone else doing it for you anymore 😄😎.
