  1. I use 60-80# braid when bottom fishing and use the least/lightest amount of terminal tackle necessary. I carry 2-8 oz egg sinkers, 2/0-8/0 circle hooks, SPRO swivels, and 20-80# spools of fluorocarbon leader. My rods and reels are Avet LX or Shimano Torium 30's on Shimano Trevala rods. Some will say you need heavier gear or don't need fluorocarbon.
  2. Personally, I don't mind. You don't have to pay $25 as that is the fee for the year. Instead, you could buy the daily permit for like $6 or something. I bought the $25 permit as I love going there throughout the year for crappie.
  3. The sunline fx2 is good stuff, hard to beat power pro imo though.
  4. I can't find ST-76 in any sizes smaller than 3/0, are they discontinued or something?
  5. I also think it's important to choose a safe place to fish at night if you're on your own. These days during daylight hours places look ideal but at night they seem to attract the chav element who fancy some free fishing equipment.
  6. I have a medium heavy abu Garcia Zenon spinning rod setup I use for mainly skipping docks with weighted wacky senkos. I like the extra power for getting em out under docks and use ten pound braid to ten or 12 pound flouro. A casting rod would work fine, but I prefer a spinning reel for skipping just for the forgiveness.
  7. Looks like Tru-Turn hooks!
  8. For tackle i have to say j&h in oakdale they have everything you need there for bait i like burnetts in bayshore he has some nice fresh baits there
  9. Chatter bait or buzz bait trailer works great.
  10. There is a great camp called Long Lake Camps in Princeton Maine that would be east of Bangor but alot closer than Champlain.Smallmouth fishing is awesome and I do believe they have guide service.
  11. I don't have to go that far back, just to the last trip up the Roanke River, above Hardy Ramp. throwin 1/16 oz twistertails, 4lb line. we caught 11 different species! one of those was an 11 inch Brown Trout! LMB, SMB, crappie, white an yellow perch, small stripers, walleye, channel cat, carp, an brim.
  12. I drop my jig to prospective area, put my rod in rod holder, and place the line into an outrigger. Voila I'm jigging!!
