  1. Anyone in or around the Joliet area that has recommendations for a shore fishing trip for my nephews and I? The subdivision we live in used to have good fishing but they don't maintain the fish population so now it is almost barren. We've tried Lake Chaminwood and Whalon lake but did not catch or even see fish.
  2. Most of my fishing is done at a pond located in my subdivision. The species of fish I know are in the pond are bluegill, largemouth bass, bullhead, carp, and crappie. One day I was fishing a 6" junebug worm with a bullet weight and was reeling in when I feel like something grabbed the bait. Naturally I set the hook but nothing was on the line and when I was reeling my worm back in to make another cast I noticed it felt lighter. When it came into my view I saw the whole tail of the worm was gone. I've never had a bass or anything do this to any plastic I have used before especially since it was a new out of the package worm. I thought maybe a turtle but I have only seen red ear sliders and they just don't seem big enough to do that kinda damage. I live in Illinois but im not sure if we have snapping turtles here because all this land used to be farmland. Im sure this has happened to other guys so I wanna hear your stories and thoughts.
  3. I did a search earlier and there was only a post about a hook from the kit. I don't know how new the 006 kit is and never heard anything about the old banjo minnow.
  4. So I was watching Tv and saw the infomercial for this product. Babe Winkleman says it works and says he wouldn't endorse any product that he thought wouldn't work. If the action I saw from the infomercial is the action you could expect from the bait then I think it be decent. Anyone tried these yet?
  5. I wanna hear about strange things that have happened to everyone. About 2 years ago me and my friends were playing basketball at a local school in the park. We got there a little late and the sun was almost down but it was still a pretty warm day. The sun went down and the lights came on so we kept playing. It was pretty dark now and the path we had come through which is just a tiny bridge surrounded by trees was engulfed in darkness. Even though the school is on a main road there wasn't much traffic going around. While we were playing I noticed a glimmer of light down from near the bridge. Next a figure in white came out and started up the path. I quickly told my friends about it and we watched this figure walk halfway up the paved path and stop. The weird thing is that the figure didn't seem to be walking but gliding. It appeared to be a womans figure in some sort of dress but it was an odd glowing eerie kind of white. I hadn't noticed before but it hadn't dropped it temperature alot. At first we sat there and watched but then we decided it would be best to leave but im sure we were all scared out of our minds. I was around 16 at the time and one of my friend's brothers who was probably in 6th grade at the time was crying and out of control. We got to the nearest business we could find with my friends brother crying in a panic and they called the cops. The cops said they saw no one when they went to check the school or the neighborhood around it. To this day me and my friends try to avoid going there at night and we don't talk about it. I have no idea what I saw but all my friends agree that it was just an odd glowing white and there was like no motion on the dress as if it was a person walking.
  6. Any 1 try these yet? It says they are new and they closely resemble Basstrix (Havent tried them yet). Any tips on fishing them or Basstrix? Most of the reviews say to fish them with a weighted hook. Only problem with the Luck "E" strike swimbaits are that the people say they have a strong chemical smell.
  7. Ok for everyone who is a bass fisherman this video may be hard to watch. Basically it is someone's pet snakehead and they are feeding it a small bass. I felt so bad for the little guy after he got his tail bitten off :'( :'( Im sure these people see this as fun but that bass was too big to be put in there. From the looks of it the snakehead just probably left it alone after biting its tail off and it died a slow painful death. I would love to stick there hand in that tank and see it take off a finger or two of theirs for doing that to that poor little guy.
  8. Ok I do all of my fishing from shore and it is usually in sub-division ponds where all I catch are largemouth bass. A short walk from my house is a river that I know has smallies in it. My question is can I use the same things to catch both species. I was thinking a skirted grub or tubes but I would like to know what everyone else uses or would use. Also we have had some pretty decent rains here and the river is close to flooding. Would this sudden rush of water do anything to change their feeding patterns?
  9. Any 1 ever seen or heard of this jig? It is made with real rabbit hair and they claim it hold scent better. (video)http://www.furryfishbaits.com (company website) if anyone has one of these id like to know if you liked it or not
  10. Today I went to a local pond a little after 5. The weather was cloudy so I figured I would have a good day. I had a shallow crankbait and a buzzbait rigged. After an hour or so of moving and not catching anything I went to a different spot and within 5 minutes I had my fish. He was 17.5 inches which isn't big compared to most bass but he is big for our little ponds. After catching him the clouds decided to dump all their rain on me so I walked home soaking wet. ;D
  11. I am trying to decide what color stick bait to buy to match the things in my lake that the bass are feeding on so I decided to ask all the great fishermen here what they think. Mostly what I have seen the bass feed on are bluegill but we do have crappie, catfish, carp and anything that people might have thrown in there. The main pond I fish at is always pretty clear and is not very deep but algae and some other things grow on the surface and underneath the surface. Any suggestions on color?? I figured I might try something with flash like a chrome blue but I am no pro so I would like to know what would work.
  12. What are your favorite tube colors for clear and muddy water?
  13. What color skirts and blades would you use for clear water during the summer?
  14. Today I went fishing in the pond in my subdivision. It was about 4 or 5 pm and the temp was in the mid 80's. The water was very clear for about 15 feet. I caught a ok fish on a chomper and a smaller fish on a watermelon and cream senko. I spent more time casting then I did catching fish. The use of bluegills is banned so its either minnows or worms for live bait or lures. I saw many bass swimming is small schools. Any tips on what I can use to entice the fish to bite?
  15. Ok I have been fishing for a few years and never bought a bc reel. I finally decided to buy one and I am stumped. I have no idea how to put line on this thing. I feel retarded. Im used to spinning reels so this is really new to me. I got a Daiwa Procaster Tournament 100BL. The instructions are vague.
