  1. 8lbs line should work nicely.I assume you are putting it on a SY2500FJ model? Anything small might give you problems. I use the hybrid Ultra soft in 6# test...I'm not sure how much stiffer the 8# test hybrid is.Maybe somebody can tell you the difference here. You might have put it on backwards, if so take Marty's advice if that's the case.If you filled it all the way to the rim of the spool you put too much on. The more you do it the better you'll get at it.I think it's a big waste of money to have somebody else spool the line on for you.I don't know why but i feel better when i put my own line on knowing i did it right and not re-spooled it so tight like some of the guys at the store tend to do.
  2. what type of reel are you trying to respool?Type of line(mono or fluoro) and what is the rating(8lb,10lb,12lb)?
  3. He's a lonely, lonely guy.Sounds like there is something wrong with him.Not quite right in the head.If i were you try to be friendly when he does come at you,no matter what he tries to pull. If he comes out again just show him your pass and say "Excuse me,but I really don't have time to talk today." Then walk away. If he calls the cops and those cops see you have a pass that guy is going to get into a lot of trouble for calling the cops. Cops do not like to have to make these kind of runs. If you have to get a pass every year to fish that water I would.....It'll keep him and the cops off your back.Just do everything legally and ignore him as much as you can. P.S. I used to play paintball too.It got too expensive,so i quit playing and gave all my stuff away to my best friend. ;D I rather be fishing.
  4. Congrats on the catch! Ouch, that sucks falling down.I've scratched up my new curado slipping down some rocks....Even after catching a few smallmouths didn't cheer me up that day.I had blood going down my leg from one of the jagged rocks that scratched me.That day sucked hardcore for me.
  5. welcome aboard.

  10. A lot of good stuff here.
  11. I did it with stickbaits/worms this year....it paid off for me. I took nothing but a pack of yum dingers and a spinning set up.A good portion of my fish came off that bait this year including my PB smallmouth.
  12. My mom makes that for cookouts.Oh man,now i gotta make that sometimes this week! I haven't had that in almost 7 years. Here's mine..... 1 head of cabbage 1 big can of tomato soup 1/2 bag of celery 1/2 bag of carrots 1 onion Get a big pot and pour in tomato soup, cut up onion, carrots, celery and cabbage to small bite sizes.Put it all in the pot and let it sit on a medium-high heat covered.Stir occasionally till everything is tender and soft. You can make a bigger batch and freeze leftovers till you want it again. I recommend some Italian bread buttered up to slop up the soup with.
  13. Took one got sicker than a dog...worst 2 weeks of my life.Never again. My dad took one as well, the man hasn't been sick in 15 years...right after the shot no more than 2 days he was sick with the Flu.He won't take them either. I'll take my Zinc and health pills instead.
  14. Been experimenting...that's what i would say from what i gather. I make my own using vaseline & crayfish scent. ;D
  15. Mizmo are my favorite. There's a mom and pop's store that carries some tube baits from the locals who make them.I'm spoiled on my tube choices because they carry everything plus more.Little more pricier but well worth the cost when nobody else carries them or their colors.
  16. X2... Very Scary,I would have lost it on both the woman and man. I always make my kid walk a foot in front of me where i can see him all the time.I always feel safer when he's in full sight and within my arm's reach.
  17. Don't be afraid to check out Great Lakes bass site. They might have the Info you guys might be looking for.
  18. Welcome! Tons of stuff to read and learn around here.

  20. Sad but true. I grew up in the inner city of Dallas. It was already bad when i got into High school(90'-94').I remember my first day of high school....walking through metal detectors. :-/
  21. Deep hooking and accidentally killing it I will. I've only had to take one fish home with me this year.It made a little nice lunch meal.
  22. Interesting...but to be honest it really doesn't surprise me. Back in the day people fished to eat. Many still do.
