  1. seeing that tubes imitate crayfish, and crayfish hibernate in the winter, I would use another finesse type bait. A straight worm without any action on a drop shot rig. I catch more smallies on grubs than anything else, I rely on minnow imitators for catch quantity. When the craws start coming out of hibernation is the time to start with the tubes, the smallies really load up on them in the spring. IMO you are missing out.Drop shot a white tube and I think you may be surprise at the results.Tubes don't always remind me of a crayfish.
  2. Luck E strike french fry in John's special or green pumpkin. These things are extremely cheap, but work!
  3. I spent a lot of time this year reading those articles and watching those videos. I feel smarter now.... ;D
  4. What helped me was palming the reel, while my index finger is touching the line at all times.I believe i got that tip from Lighteningrod Dan. You can be looking for a little "tick"or your line is going to feel heavy. The term hook sets are free really does apply for jig fishing. Many of the times they'll inhale the bait and just sit there...you won't feel a thing, until you try to move your jig again.By then it could be too late if they feel the resistance. The more you fish it,the more you'll began to figure out the difference between a bite or not. The Jig is by far my favorite, but it does require amount of patience when trying to learn it.
  5. Almost makes me want to move down there. That is an awesome catch!
  6. Now you know why i like mine.I recommend having a few of these buzzbaits, they definitely have their time and place.
  7. Stinger 36 or 41. VMC Inline Round. I guess they are actually 1x hooks, but you get the picture. No need for the 4x, 6x monsters with most bass situations. I mean think about it...I caught my season's best smallmouth, a 5-0, on a #6 Gamakatsu Drop shot/SS hook. Thanks, going to remember that one.
  8. I agree.....I lose that in one outing sometimes. If you are fishing from shore, bait knockers don't really work either. I fish river systems with heavy current...so going swimming for it is not an option.I can't even swim anyways. J Francho, what 2X treble hooks do you use?
  9. If you report it,whoever is laying that foundation is going to be paying some hefty, hefty fines.Simply because if that goes underground and into drinking water it ain't just going to be the fish they will have to worry about.I smell lawsuits coming.....
  10. Just a little advice or food for the thought for next time, maybe make it a rule that when a person gets the box they have 24-72 hours(1-3 days) to reship it.If they cannot do it,do not participate period.I was kinda watching this one and not joining yet because i wanted to see how it worked and went. I feel bad for you that it didn't work out...I applaud your effort for doing this and trying to make it fun.
  11. I traded all my evolution jigs away.I didn't care for the rocker on them. I've been extremely loyal to http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/ by our one and only Gman. He's got pretty much everything i use and need as far as my jig craze goes. It's hard to beat his price and quality. He'll even custom color your jig to your specifications.I'd be hard pressed to find another jig maker like him.
  12. I'm guessing this is pointed more toward the guys that are single. I already have a beautiful wife....what would i need Taylor for? Now if i was 10 years younger and single...would be a different story here. ;D My pick now would be fishing with a Pro and pick their brains outs.
  13. That's pretty cool....
  14. I'm pretty much done too...I'll keep 2 rigs just in case we get a small warm up.Will be 66 on Wednesday, then drops back into the 50's.Once the snow and ice comes I'm done till spring comes again.
  15. I couldn't do that....I'm a tackle enthusiast collector as much as i go fishing. I love buying and trying new lures.... ;D Besides there isn't much to do in the winter except collect lures.

  17. welcome aboard! Gotta love them smallmouths.
  18. Welcome aboard! Anybody mind telling me what a snot rocket is? I never heard of those... :-?
  19. The kid blurted out "It's for the show". An investigation needs to be taken place and the parents needs to be charged and fined now for misusing 911 services if this was a publicity stunt. From the sound of it and the way that kid said it...wouldn't be surprise if this whole thing was set up.
  20. Bass are predators, they rely on instincts. If something looks good enough and moves bass will attack and eat it.Instincts will get them in trouble rather it'd be poison or a hook.Otherwise i see no explanation of why a bass would attack it. It's the same reason why Bill Dance's using that Dancing eel lure will induce bites. There's a time and place for every lure to work. Am i close to right? I've heard of people cutting a Zoom horny toad in half and using the back legs portion with a jig. I don't like using frogs,so i do it this way.
  21. I find decreasing your line size can help as well.
  22. http://inudge.net/index.en.html# This is pretty neat.....Enjoy!
  23. Welcome aboard!
