Sponsorship?
It depends on where I am at in my tournament success. If I'm an elite series competitor or at a very high level then no, but if I am pretty unknown and at a low level, sometimes you need to take anything you can get.

drop shot weights
I use mojo weights in rocky areas, and teardrop in weedy areas. I use pretty light weights in the rocks to, 1/16 or 1/8. I go heavier in weeds, depending on thickness of weeds,

Global warming, again...
I saw a 20/20 report a while back that pretty much said everything that Fox report did. All the politicians are saying "the debate is over." Apparently it isnt.

Baitcasting Or Spinning For Cranks
I always use baitcasting equipment for cranks, except when I am throwing small shad raps or mini cranks and I simply cannot cast them consistantly. I just prefer to crank with baitcasters. It is just a matter of preference though, the bass do not know or care what reel you are using. I also usually use 8-14 pound mono for med-deep diving cranks.

another noob - pics and pond question
Welcome If you catch a bunch of bass and most of them are long and skinny, and just look plain undernourished, then you should keep a few. This will actually benefit the pond because it thins out the population and there is much less competition among the bass for food, so they grow bigger and faster. Also, a lot of begginers make the mistake of keeping only big fish when they want to thin out a pond. Wrong, only keep the smaller bass, say 8-13 inches is a good starting point. Dont forget bluegill either they, spawn like crazy and taking a few slabs of them will not hurt the pond too much.

flipping/pitching "open" water
You can also pitch to a school of baitfish with bass under them. When the fall comes around and You can see the birds circling and minnows jumping out of the water, I pitch to all that commotion with a tube.

First fish of the season!!!
Caught the first fish of the season today After fishing a cooling lake that just opened by my house and catching nada, I stopped by a local public pond by my house. It was half frozen yesterday but rain and warmer weather unfroze it completely. By the time I got there It was around 25 degrees and snowing. I started throwing a Sebile lipless crank parallel to a well known drop off next to the bank. Not huge but more than enough fish to ward off cabin fever for a little while.

No end in sight
Here in Chicago, I just saw the 7 day from Tom Skilling. Highs in the 20's and a high of 16 on Friday, with a low of 6!!! Snow every day. On Sunday it warms to a whopping 36 :'(

Casting Rapalas
I can usually cast them all day with my bc gear if there is NO wind and if the casts do not have to be very accurate. Otherwise I go with spinning gear.

Palomar knot testimony
The palomar is the absolute best for mono and braid but it is not the best for fluorocarbon. It crimps the line. The palomar is not the worst for fluoro and it will work most of the time, but there are better options.

Frog Baits
I love Manns swimmin frog for Horny Toad style frogs, as for hollow body frogs I dont use them much but I caught a few with snag proof once.
