  1. There are 3 ponds right by my house that I KNOW do not have lizards or salamanders or anything similiar inside them. Would it be completely futile to fish soft plastic lizards in them if they do not contain them as forage? Or does it not matter, the bass just recognize them???
  2. You should use low-vis green for stained or muddy water and clear for clear water. Why does it matter though, I thought you were only using braid? :-?
  3. Cool, I love to modify baits, especially soft plastics. I agree with gone_fishin, that will probably be a fantastic bedding bait
  4. Man! McClelland wins one every year! He's good
  5. The advice is for anyone that's struggling. 8-) Oh, Ok. Sorry
  6. winning bid 10850 dollars
  7. I am glad you want to give advice Mike, but the last time the original poster (Nick 982) was even online was July 11th!!! Thats roughly 8 months ago. I dont think he is listening anymore.
  8. he said he fished it 2-3 times per week though so its not that "unfished anymore" I'm the only one who fishes it and I never keep bass so I would consider it pretty unfished. If you fish the pond 2-3 times a week the fish are going to get pretty used to YOUR lures and techniques. I doubt the pond is gigantic, and it is really easy to overfish ponds. Also, 9 pounds and 13 pounds is a VERY big difference.
  9. Another California giant, nice fish man
  10. I hope Snowden wins it. I like him.
  11. nice job. A little fish is better than no fish.
  12. The way I learned was to slant the baitcaster at an angle when casting.
  13. No, it does not impede the action. In fact it can even help especially with lipless crankbaits because it can even increase the vibration caused by lipless cranks. However, do not use snap swivels with lures that need to have perfect balance, like Jerkbaits, topwater, etc... Using a snap swivel in that situation would throw of the balance and will make the lure much less effective. Also, yes the swivels will come open and break every once in a blue moon, but not very often.
  14. when all else fails i go with: search bait: swimming a 3 or 5 inch KALINS grub on a jighead saturater: 4 inch ringworm on a drop shot.
  15. Not junk at all. You can do a lot with them too. T-rig C-rig, drop shot.
  16. The length says 7 or 8 pounds but the girth says more like 6 or 6.5 pounds. Nice fish no matter what she weighs
  17. Yeah I like weird rigging methods too. That is a good idea, is there any line twist issues???
  18. If you are fishing for lmb i think only using braid is a huge mistake. If you stop using fluoro and mono with certain techniques, your catch rate will go down, guaranteed. I dont know why your 15 pound line keeps breaking, but it is probably because of a factor you can control. Maybe the fish that keeping breaking you off have teeth, maybe there is a knick in one of the guides of your rod, maybe your drag is way too tight. LMB dont just go around breaking 15 pound line all the time. Remember, The second biggest bass ever caught (22 lbs) was caught on 8 lb monofilament.
  19. Yes you can fish a worm slow, but when talking about all soft plastics the speed varies greatly
  20. Light goes through red line, its transparant Light reflects off of red hooks, so the bass can see the red of the hooks until certain depths.
  21. Are you serious??? I did not know that, that really sucks. Although you can probably go out there with a bait that catches both walleye and bass, like a grub, and just say you are fishing for walleye or pike
  22. congrats, I am a member of the national honor society too, as of last october
  23. I would start with a cheaper crankbait, like bombers or bandits. Remember, whenever using (lipped) crankbaits always deflect the bait.
