  1. I wouldnt go out and buy more heavy braid, it should be heavy enough. Next time you buy braid for flippin I would go heavier though.
  2. snaps are also supposed to increase vibration in lures with rattles.
  3. Braid is often the best choice in very heavy cover. When you get hung up and get the lure free, point the rod tip at the hang up, and reel up the slack line. Hold the line or the spool to prevent the drag from slipping. Then crouch down with the rod held above you and start backing away. Either the line will break, or your jig will pop free, and if it flies out of the water it will not hit you because you are crouched down.
  4. When the conditions are rough and you are content with the couple of one and two pounders you are catching, thats when an old fisherman comes by you on the shore with a spincast outfit and a minnow under a bobber and starts pulling in five pounders. >
  5. yep. Every body has bad tournaments.

  7. Give him hard facts. Look for and print out some studies and reports that agree with you and explain why C and R is so important, especially around the spawn.
  8. You can fish them in prespawn but not too early, wait till the water gets to the mid 40's. They also work good in right before the spawn when the fish are staging and are chasing down that last meal before the spawn.
  9. Simple bass biology, When bass lay eggs, they need some source of heat to incubate them, much like when a hen sits on her eggs. That source of heat is sunlight. They spawn in a part of the water column called the photic zone, which is the top layer of water that gets the most sunlight. When the water is dirtier then the sunlight does not penetrate deeper depths enough to adequately incubate the eggs. Thus, the dirtier the water the shallower the fish have to go to get the sunlight needed to incubate their eggs and have a successful nest. In clearer water the bass can go deeper or they can remain shallow, because a wide range of depths have adequate sunlight and the photic zone is larger. So basically, the clearer the water the deeper this bass spawn. This does not necessarily mean they will all spawn deep, some will still spawn shallow, and those shallow spawners are typically most targeted. The deeper spawners are harder to see or impossible to see and thus harder to target and fish.
  10. I have not been to the doctor but the problem has since gone away. I do not think it was anything serious.
  11. In brush the best crank to use is square billed, and a lot of different brands will work, but I like bomber square A's.
  12. You can catch those smallmouth with a variety of techniques, but I would start with a grub. More importantly I would focus on where to fish. If there is a bunch of rocky banks, I would focus on the ones that have rocks that are more ROUND as opposed to jagged. Once I find the banks I want to fish I would look for any IRREGULARITIES and fish them first and hardest.
  13. Except for his wildcard win. I hope he holds on.
  14. Yeah this is true but not always. Last year me and a buddy of mine caught a four pound bass in a local pond in 41 degree water with a crawfish sticking out of its throat.
  15. Correction: 33-100 degree water
  16. Water clarity has the most to do with it. Its all about sunlight. The bass need the right amount of sunlight for the eggs, and the dirtier the water the shallower they have to lay eggs due to lack of sufficient sunlight at deeper depths. Bass pros like ish monroe have become masters at fishing deep bedding bass in super clear lakes out west. They spawn deeper out there due to water clarity.
  17. Don't worry, the Karma gods are on it I'm sure... I sure hope so
