  1. oh my! tons of fisheries near you that should be producing. I know a few guys that are just hammering them out. Are you fishing ponds? what kind of lures are you using? I'm not in ashburn all that often but I'll let you know the next time I am (I can't guarantee you wont' get skunked but its always best not to be skunked a lone)
  2. Dang! I'd love to fish tomorrow, cept I have to work =/. Good luck though, I hear that place is pretty tough and gets a lot of pressure. no bueno indeed....
  3. Amazing outting! Take me fishing please.
  4. I believe we ended up with 3 keeper YP and a few dinks. I caught a big shad and a few bluegill but that was it. you didn't miss it, it was just off that day. I believe dan or our buddy went back the following week and they came home with at least 60?
  5. Yup, that's us. We got skunked. Though we did see a few boats out catching a few perch on chartreuse jigs. We saw a few bass boats out, too, hitting Hoffmasters hard, but not sure if they had much luck that day. Sunny and cold conditions, with the river fairly muddy. A week after that, we tried Burke, with no luck at all. Same conditions...sunny, cold, windy. We did see a guy in a john boat out fishing hard and catching a few and a guy in a green Hobie that said he didn't get luck, either. haha! I was there with another member and a buddy of ours (same guy Dan fishes with) on occoquan that weekend. If you saw two asians with an older white guy in a silver boat, that was us. that was only a few days after they pulled over 100 YP from there...
  6. Bass Slayer, you were in occoquan 3 weeks ago on yaks with a buddy? are your yaks bright red?
  7. three of us, four including you, have mirage drives so we will definitely stay on waters we can pedal in. Thing is, with the tides, sometimes we have to pull the drives and paddle > We'll definitely keep you in the loop! I think pony pastures is more for wading? even then, you have to watch the gage height of the river as it can be pretty dangerous (at least from what I hear)
  8. yep! DC, you wouldn't happen to be a left hand retrieve guy are you?
  9. Definitely! I have a few buddies with hobies and we try to get out as much as possible. I'm entertaining the idea of selling my outfitter (tandem) for a Pro Angler if I can find a good deal on it. I'll let you know whenever we get out.
  10. Welcome!!! I'm a fellow hobie kayaker and am jealous of your Pro angler! How about SMB? The upper potomac is one of my favorite places to yak and fish. I plan to do more tidal potomac fishing this year as well.
  11. Nice J! Those pix came out looking antique! How were you workin the jig? swimming, draggin, hopping?
  12. It's cuz your boy Thai has been banned for the past week! I really want to hit up the occoquan river this weekend in the kayak. ANy of you yakers down? That has absolutely nothing to do with the lack of production on the river or anything even to do with this thread whatsoever. Best to stay on topic here. Somewhat back on topic, Im about to start moving in the next few weeks so my potomac outings wont be as frequent this spring. Looks like I'll be fishing alot of lake anna for the next few months while I stay there and maybe the James and Chickahominy. Hopefully we will find our new house soon and it wont be too far from the river. My search for a house has been basically between stafford and the massaponax area. Living near Aquia creek would be sweet, that place is money all summer. not really on topic either :/ anyways, looks like I might be headin out to briery with the Kbf folk. Wish us luck! Got some invaluable info from another member I hope to utilize. dan, did you go with carl? How was it?
  13. It's cuz your boy Thai has been banned for the past week! I really want to hit up the occoquan river this weekend in the kayak. ANy of you yakers down? Whoa when/why did that happen?! He was just "suspended", nothing really to talk about. he should be back soon
  14. Saw a few guys fishing the river last weekend when I was out on a buddies boat with Thai. Fishing should be much better this weekend if the winds stay away. I had luck catching perch on a silver buddy and drop shots. Water temps last saturday were 37* by sunset.
  15. Might try to hit up a few ponds around the area. I was thinking we should date these threads and everyone should include a report once they do get out to fish that week. Just a suggestion. Sorry if you guys are already doing that! Don't follow BR as much as I used to. Any who, I'll report back with where I went and what, if anything, I caught.
  16. Too bad Simon likes to stay in Richmond!! Team hobie! Team left handed retrieve!! Reuniteeee
  17. It was no fun in NoVa. The water does look a little disturbed. that water behind simon looks pretty flat compared to what we were fishing... >
  18. on a kayak none the less!! Was it as windy in richmond as it was here?
  19. CHEATER!!! HAHA JK JK! NICE FEEEEEEESH! ;D I hate you!!!!!!!!! >_<
  20. might want to ask wayne p. he's kind of an expert with that body of water...
  21. Anything going down tomorrow? My day is free and I'm hoping to get some fishing in! What are my options?
  22. Hey, I asked if you wanted to go... (as I stay up doing the work I should have done ths morning). haha, I hate you....I took advantage of the excused workflow from the snow days and now I'm stuck with more old cases than I'm comfortable with. I drove by a pond today that is always the first to freeze and it was completely ice free! I'm going to take that as a sign that other bodies of water should be fishable by the weekend
  23. Very nice Dan! I've hooked into some big YP before and they put up a hell of a fight. Especially on light tackle! Beats what i did today...work >
