  1. For what they cost, it is worth the experience of having one. I am most certain you'd find good use for it somewhere in your starting lineup. I use 1 of mine for spinnerbait and the other 2 for cranks. I'm sure they would work well for pitching too, I just haven't done it. I do not find the sizing to be large at all, actually quite the opposite to me, but I have 2XL hands. Don't think you could find a better reel for the price anywhere. Get one, you'll like it.
  2. I don't pitch with mine so can't add anything in that regard, but they do cast really nice. I think they do particularly well in the wind. As good as any original Zillion or Fuego, maybe better. Performance of my 3 Tatula has been great but I have a real hard time accepting the lack of free floating spool. There are 2 things that have bound me to Daiwa, Magforce Z and the free floating spool design. Tatula has the Magforce Z but no free floating spool. I just bought another Fuego last night and paid too much for it but I'd rather have it than another Tatula at this point.
  3. Go custom if it's possible. You can get exactly what you want this way! I had a 6' MH built with cork pistol grip and fighting butt and I love that rod!! It is built on a St. Croix SCII (Premier) blank with spiraled Alconites. I use it for throwing poppers or fishing T-rig worms. I also have a custom 5'6" M/F built on the SCIII Avid blank. If they are rods you will use a lot, go custom!

It's the shooters causing the whole .22 LR mess. Everybody is in panic mode so they buy everything they can get their hands on even though they don't need it. I only have 600 rounds left and am afraid to use any to sight in my new rifle. I haven't been able to get any around here for a long time. As soon as any hits the shelves, it's gone and you ain't getting any if you aren't standing right there to grab it. If a guy had the money to start up and manufacture quality 22 LR ammo right now, he'd get rich in a d**n hurry!!
  5. I have stuck to mono also, for the most part. I do use some Power Pro for heavy cover and also some Fireline for specific apps. But like Raul, 90+ % of my fishing is with mono. My preferred is Trilene XT but am experimenting with some Suffix Siege in 6 and 8 lb test for some finesse use.
  6. The Shawshank Redemption. Tim Robbins was Andy Dufrain.
  7. Gene Hackman... Sally Field
  8. Team Daiwa Advantage HSTA. This reel comes very very close to the performance level of the Zillion but for half the cost. The ultimate bargain was the Cabela's Prodigy A. The only difference between the Prodigy A and the HSTA was the Prodigy had no bearings in the handle grips. Big deal. At $79 on sale it was the ultimate score!
  9. I agree. Except I think carbontex drag kit is worth every penny. I have yet to see a reel that didn't benefit from carbontex drag washers. I put them in all my reels now.
  10. realdealcustomtackle.com Brad Deal has some nice stuff to go along with his excellent customer service.
  11. There is one here. 7' Heavy 2 pc. I'm assuming you want a casting rod though, not spinning right? http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Fishing-Rods/Casting-Rods%7C/pc/104793480/c/104764680/sc/104823180/Cabelas-Fish-Eagle174-50-Casting-Rods/1386936.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fcasting-rods%2Fcabelas%2F_%2FN-1102351%2B1000002949%2FNe-1000002949%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104823180%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104793480%253Bcat104764680%26WTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNU&WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104793480%3Bcat104764680%3Bcat104823180
  12. Me and my Revo's did not get along fishing against the wind, didn't matter what I was throwing except maybe traps. Otherwise they were ok. I did not have a Winch, but the SX's, and they were much the same except for gears and handle I believe... neither of which matters on the cast.
  13. I have 3 of those old Black Magnum 200FS reels too. All 3 in pretty good shape, still work and in original boxes with the little tool/parts kits, oil and paperwork that came with them. I don't want them anymore so if you or somebody else does let me know or I'm gonna round file them.
  14. The 6's can be used for anything in my opinion. Can't go wrong with those.
  15. Yes sir, it certainly would. $900 combo is double eggshell territory for me, not going there! Nice rig Hootie! You deserve every exhilarating moment with it, enjoy!
  16. I avoid docks as much as I possibly can. I WILL fish them if I feel I must but it's a last ditch effort for me. Why? 2 reasons....I don't want to deal with the hassle of some distraught properrty owner , and I equate fishing docks to shooting grouse on the ground. If you're an upland hunter you know what I mean by that.
  17. I would go for that and I don't use braid much either! I wish I could find that deal here somewhere!
  18. Can't beat that! Enjoy that Revo! Consider having it serviced over the winter. Get those spool bearings cleaned out and it will cast even better.
  19. New for $100, you did just fine. Solid, good performing reels! I had 4 of them at one time, never a problem with any of them.
  20. What brand of fluoro do you use/recommend?
  21. Great lure! I use them all season long and it is a rare day that I don't have my spinnerbait rod on the deck.
  22. I couldn't resist! Alconites, full burl cork, 6'10"....sounds beautiful! I'll let ya'll know how sweet it is after I fish with it!
  23. I'm going to put those Hedgehog Air BFS bearings in my Alphas F over the winter when I'm going through all my reels. I was told they are the only ones that will make a real difference. I really don't have any complaints with how it casts now but I'm curious to see just how much difference there will actually be.
  24. If nobody else is interested, I might be! I'm going to PM you on this.
