  1. Yuck! More rain coming! Don't they have most of the lake down to no wake now too?
  2. Same for me! Or, Keen vented low hikers, which I wear at work every day too. Love 'em because my feet hurt a lot less in Keen!
  3. I'm most happy with the Daiwa Magforce Z system! I want nothing more... or less.
  4. 7" Power Worm for me. stained water=Red Shad clear water=Blue Fleck.
  5. Every winter. Even if they don't need it, I do. It's a form of therapy up here in the winter.
  6. I like the LR material! Years ago I tied many of my own but the rubber was flat strand, not round. Living rubber and pork in cold water is a lethal combo, I need to revisit that! I think it's also better on spinnerbaits. Nice jigs Mr. Deal!
  7. What problems? I have one but haven't used it yet. It's a little tight but I expect it will loosen up after a years use.
  8. It has served it's purpose. Just buy a new reel for her.
  9. I use 14 lb Berkley XT for my shallow cranks and spinnerbaits early in the year. Once the weeds come up my spinnerbaits get 17lb.
  10. My guess is he's referring to those who use a hi-power hook set on a slightly slack line with braid. The only thing I get from something like that is a good jar to the wrist if it's a heavy fish. I think the rod should take it, but I'm not gonna beat my wrist up like that anyway. It's his opinion and I'll leave him to it. It IS good for that stuff. A better question would be....if not good for jigs etc, what ARE they good for?
  11. I don't mind the split grips on rods that I use for single hand casting, but if I am throwing with both hands I prefer the full handle. On spinning rods it doesn't matter to me at all.
  12. Hasn't been a problem for me yet, but I understand your concern. I've got a couple 6'10" Crucial H/XF that I use for slop/heavy cover with 65lb braid and they have been fantastic for me. Those are the only rods I have with braid on them except for my 7'10" flippin' stick.
  13. I find the above comment to be true as well, and that is why I like the XF option in most of my rods, particularly in my finesse rigs.
  14. http://shop.assassinatorbaits.com/Natural-Shad-Pro-Assassinator-Compact-PAC-11.htm Assassinator makes a decent compact. I have used these and like them enough I'm going to get a few more.
  15. I 3rd the Avid 6'8" M/XF. Very versatile rod and mine is my designated tube rod. I looked at a bunch of different brands before I bought this one, spent more time shopping this rod than any other in my entire life and for me it absolutely excels for tubes and other finesse presentations.
  16. Yeah, I know, saw that in one of my recent visits to your website. I'll get some from you eventually.
  17. This subject always cracks me up. You guys don't really waste time worrying about such a trivial matter, do you? Who gives a hoot! There's this other popular sport we have in this country called baseball. Some are right, some left, some can switch. It doesn't matter as long as you can play the game. When I played, I could switch hit and throw almost as good with my left as my right. Glove stayed on my left hand but sometimes I'd switch hit just to throw a guy off. In the end it didn't matter as long as I got my intended results. As close to ambidextrous as I am/was, I don't like reeling my baitcasters with my left nor do I like reeling my spinning rigs with my right. That's how I do it, it works for me and I do as well as the next guy. How or why somebody else handles their rods/reels the way they do never factors into my day.
  18. Not that I know of. Talk to Mike and see what he can do.
  19. Ok, I thought....well never mind. Still made, just fragile.
  20. Don't they still make those? My visit to their website shows the Balsa B still in production. http://bagleybait.com/products/balsa-b/
  21. Siebert Outdoors has some nice ones. Not sure if hook is 4/0, but you could ask him. I have some of his Zenith Shaky heads and really like them.
  22. I still have not forced myself into using the tungsten bullet weights yets. I know of the advantages blah blah blah, but yes it's the cost that continues to steer me clear. I get on pretty darn well using brass (and have for many years) but still use good old lead most of the time. When I do want/need to telegraph bottom composition up my line, that's when I reach for the brass and for those not familiar the difference is very noticeable. Am a huge fan of Thunder Bullets, best brass I've ever used. If you would like some more "feel" vs lead, brass is a cheaper alternative to tungsten and still environmentally friendly. So, anyone else here still clinging to brass or have ya'll moved on to tungsten? I know it's time for me to try some tungsten and I will soon, just wondering if anyone else uses brass at all.
  23. Most of my rods are TS rods, but none of them say so anywhere on the blank.
  24. Thanks aavery2, those will be going on mine this fall, if not before.
