  1. After being without a truck for a couple years my wife and I realized they do come in handy and decided to get another one. I have to admit I was never a big Ford fan but the Ecoboost got my attention. Some club members have them so I got a chance to see how they perform. Went to check prices last night and ended up coming home with one. Now have to resist the urge to buy aftermarket parts.....
  2. Mono can still break after a bad backlash but nothing like flouro. it is not as bad as it sounds, get a decent quality bc reel to learn on, this is definitely a time going to cheap to save money is not worth it.
  3. Start off with some cheap mono to get started, another trick is to pull off a little over a casting distance of line and put a piece of tape across the rest of the spool. Even if you do backlash the tape will help keep it from being to bad. Also, don't worry about distance at first.
  4. Congrats!!! Seeing these updates about how great kayak fishing is makes it harder and harder not to get one. Need to learn to swim.....
  5. It is absolutely despicable, but I have no argument with there handling of it. I am sure there is a lot not being reported. If his teammates and organization are okay there is no reason to continue with it. The one thing I would like to see is the video of what was going on prior. It won't provide him an excuse but a better understanding of why it occurred.
  6. Me, jigs and t-rigged plastics on heavy gear to get the fish up and out quickly. Concentrating on areas where there is some type of bottom different, a channel, drop-off or transition from mud to gravel bottom type changes. Have to spend some time working different areas to pattern where they are that particular day.
  7. Use what works for you, lighter presentations spinning gear works great. But for heavier presentations or heavy cover baitcast gear provides advantages. The key is being comfortable and confident with your gear not what people say to use.
  8. I have had some of my best days fishing in the rain, only concern is if there is lightening, then I stay away.
  9. The c-rig is the application that swayed me to MH, it is so different from the other applications it makes it difficult for one rod though.
  10. Normally for finesse I would say M, but for the applications you list I would suggest the MH
  11. I 2nd the MH/F, nice all around setup. My preference is for longer rods but with a kayak, space or casting may be an issue. Hopefully someone who fishes out out a kayak will reply.
  12. I have seen a few threads showing some great pictures, thinking about getting a digital SLR. I admit I do not know much about them so looking for suggestions. Not looking for the latest and greatest, this is will be for fun pictures. Do want a reliable camera with decent functionality. Will also look to get telescopic lenses for some distance shots, so any suggestions of what to look for there would be appreciated. Price range is in the 1k area.
  13. Dang, nice info Fat Boy. Had not heard the supply issue, heard they were happy with the food chain after the 2006 stocking until the perch showed up.
  14. They only due stockings of tiger musky when populations of other fish are getting out of hand. In 2006 it was crappie, last year it was due to yellow perch. The yellow perch was someone self stocking, they were not introduced by DNR and they are actually not happy they are in there. The concerns are an alteration to the food chain. The population of perch is growing quickly. Last years tiger musky cannot be very big, I haven't heard anyone catching smaller ones so not sure exactly how big they are.
  15. Where did you see they were stocked in 2010?
  16. Ken, Tiger Muskys were also stocked a few years ago. There are not a whole lot left but the ones that are from that stocking are over 50 inches.
  17. IBTL
  18. Nissan Pathfinders (referring to the previous model, not the new "car like" version) comes in v6 and v8 models. Same frame as the Titan truck. Good for pulling and stopping.
  19. Heavier jigs or around cover, 20lb Abrazx need the abrasion resistance and strength to get fish out of cover. For lighter jigs and/or lighter cover 12lb Abrazx.
  20. Any time you feel any type of bite, set the hook. Be a line watcher, you see any tick or the line start going sideways, set the hook. You do not always feel a good bite with jigs, was out yesterday, biggest jig fish was a 5.25lb LM. No bite or line movement, just felt different when starting to move the bait.
  21. I have used chigger craws on a shaky head and have done very well on my local lake.
  22. Just make sure to verify if the motor is close to the max HP for the size boat. Tracker marine seems to like advertising low prices but with a motor well under the max which is not advised. You will grow to hate that rather quickly.
  23. Fish any cover, weed edge, depth change along areas where the bottom changes between hard/soft.
  24. I agree with ww2farmer, there is no such thing as to big in regards to trolling motors. Get the biggest you can afford, or can fit on your boat. You may not need the power all the time, but when you do you will greatly appreciate it. Also, the batteries will last longer and the unit itself will last longer because you can use it with a lower percent of full strength.
  25. Mine, putting my face in line with a chatterbait flying thru the air...to my defense I never knew it was coming though....
