  1. I am mainly a finesse fisherman, Felix put up some good advice. One thing I will add is stained water is where I general add a little color, I am a co-angler so I carry spike-it marker pens. A little scent never hurts either which the pens add to.
  2. Don't take anything into the boat which could stain, such as colored drinks, liquid scents, and such. Always talk to you boater in advance, so you are prepared for what they are going to do. Be prepared for weather. Don't bring to much stuff. Be honest about what you are comfortable doing, whether its backing up trailers, running trolling motor if necessary. Boaters are happier knowing this info rather than someone not saying something then damaging things. If you need to pee off the boat, make sure to pee OFF the boat. Don't get irritated if they prefer to do things themselves. Such as I always try to help cleanup and prepare the boat for the road once the day is done. Some boaters don't want help, they have a method which they prefer to do without disruption. if you prefish don't go blabbing to anyone else what you found out. bring along some type of hook guards especially for trembles find out before you leave the ramp what their netting thoughts are, some what it immediately others only when called for.
  3. Add me to the list that uses a heavy dose when I spool up, then a few sprays the night before a trip. Use it on all line times that I have, braid, fluoro and co-poly.
  4. Last year I got a chatterbait in my face just to the side of my mouth. Partner had a bite but missed it and the bait came flying at me. I never knew it was coming. After an ER visit and 6 stitches later I have a scar to remember that day.
  5. Use it on spinning setups and love it. But if for baitcast go with abrazx, better abrasion resistant and less stretch.
  6. x2 on the suggestion of flouro around rocks, unless you plan on fishing top-waters. If you plan on fishing top-water I would go with braid with a mono leader, then switch to a flouro leader for all other fishing.
  7. When you butcher a hog, after you cook off the bones the meat that was left on them goes into scrapple instead of going to waste. Only different between it and every other cuts of meat is its not a pretty cut. Some people put liver in it, but personally leave that out. Rather have it fried up with some onions.
  8. Deaknh03, what is wrong with broth, meat, seasoning and corn meal?
  9. Been looking at a few things, the heated items just caught my attention. I have pretty good gear for cold weather, just those mornings breaking skim ice with the boat or 25 minutes runs in 27 degree weather makes you double check if there is something better. Thanks for the suggestions, one thing which helps a lot also is a Save Phace mask.
  10. Its normal, with this knot you can cut the tags ends as close to the knot as you can which will help. It won't cause any harm, except maybe to your sanity if it bugs you to hear it.
  11. I have always found it very difficult to get jig bites fishing behind someone else throwing them. Especially doing it this way, Always had better days adjusting some portion of what I am throwing. Another option, depending on the setup, is a spinnerbait. If you can throw it past the cover bump into it then let it drop you can pick up some bites also.
  12. Keep an eye out for different angles to flip your bait in. Going fast he will not hit all angles so practice flipping/casting at odd angles. Pick something with a different fall rate, can be quicker or slower just different. The bait having a different profile helps also.
  13. With winter fishing coming I have looked at some of the heated jacket/pants that are available. Wondering if anyone has any experience with them. How well do they work, worth the cost?
  14. I also run **** which helps block some of the tracking items from running. Also taking a look at the Firefox Lightbeam addon, interesting to see the extra sites connecting in the background. With options to monitor and block them this may turn into something useful.
  15. Almost 90% of Google's revenue is from advertisements, not only from what you search for but from information in emails sent.
  16. In my opinion the biggest differences are in casting and power. A spinning reel using the rod to move the fish while fighting the first the reel itself doesn't provide strength. A baitcaster is setup like a winch, you can crank fish out of cover. In casting the spinning reel lets line drop off the spool, while the baitcaster's spool spins so it must be controlled. Not sure I have a preference between the two, spinning is better for lighter baits though. Both are good for plastic baits, depends more on the weight of the lure you are using. I am sure others will chime in with more info, these are just my quick thoughts.
  17. I also will go fast as possible on these setups, you work the bait with your rod for these so the reel is only for retrieve (well obvious cast to but that doesn't play into this question). So the advantages of the faster retrieve are getting the bait back quick for a faster follow up cast, and to get any fish out of cover as quickly as possible.
  18. I can start to tell when the migraines kick in. my mistake mood can be the weather, migraine or some combination....
  19. I am surprised no one has said in their hands.... But, I hold mine exactly the same way as Siebert Outdoors. Its both comfortable to me and gives you the extra feel.
  20. Depends on why I am out, tournament is quality. But if I am out just for fun and trying to relax quantity is good just as long as they are not dinks.
  21. There is no reason to knowingly break the law, these actions are why fewer and fewer places allow fishing. Follow the rules or don't do the activity. If you don't agree with a specific law try to get it changed.
  22. If fishing for fun, try not to think, shut the mind off. If a tourney, next cast, should I switch baits, should I change presentation, wonder how my competition is doing, why is my boater doing that.....
  23. I have one rod with this line, I didn't switch it to fluro due to top water baits. I have not had a single issue. In each case of it breaking you mentioned grabbing the line, that is something you really don't want to do. With the short length of line between the fish and you hand all the pressure is put there. And if you are not wetting the line every knot that could be contributing also, especially with line grabbing.
  24. Only one I heard closed on the lower potomac was belle haven. Glad my tourney tomorrow is out of a state park.
  25. The quality of Dell's is not that good. I have been in IT since 1999, doing cyber security the past 5 1/2 years. I own no Mac's, my newest laptop is a Asus, the quality compared to the Dell's is not even close. In addition to the high cost of a Mac, I hate the fact you get to use what Apple says you can. It is my laptop I will do what I want with it, not be restricted.
