Getting my second baitcaster setup tomorrow - Lews Tournament SS and a 7'3 M/F ***. Going to spool it with 12# Yo-Zuri and use it for small cranks, lipless, dropshot, anything finesse, etc.

 

I've been reading a bunch and it seems like L&L conditioner is universally recommended to help with line memory.

 

What are your tips on using KVD L&L?

I use it really heavy on the initial spool up then 2-3 squirts before I leave the house and 2-3 when I get home.

heavy and often.  I will saturate a new spool of line and give all me reels a quick shot everytime out.

I spray my line pretty heavily when I spool up and then coat it good the night before a trip.

Why is it called Line and Lure? Is there ever a situation where you apply it to your lure?

Like some guys have said... I spray it heavily on the initial spooling ( 8-10 sprays), and then I'll spray about 3 times the night before I go fishing. 

Once I used up my first bottle I didn't buy it again, not because it doesn't work (it does), but using mono or copoly infrequently I employ an alternate method.   I soak my filler spool in warm water 10 minutes or so, then spool up.  Once the line is on the reel I troll out the entire line and I'm good to go.  After each outing my line gets trolled out so I'm ready for my next trip, on occasion I will soak the spool in warm water to limp it up again.  Trolling out gets rid of the twist and soaking reduces the coil, especially with spinning gear I feel it's important not to overfill and use to heavy a line.

For braid, it helps prevent fading. 

You can spray it on crankbaits to clean them and clean the hooks. Will prevent rust from forming

Do you re-lube the spool once you pull it out of the water?

No, with the exception of 1 conventional offshore ocean outfit I don't own a b/c, my spinning reels get a drop of oil every now and then and that's all the attention I give them unless it's time for a professional service.  Whether it's necessary or not I do put a coating of lube on the spindle just above the nut when a reel is first put into service.  Only 2  spinning reels have mono or copoly both used in saltwater, 1 is a dedicated outfit  for one species which is used almost daily, the other is a reel I only use on drift boats, which sees little use.  There is an inlet I fish at almost daily, it's easy to troll my line out there in the current.

For braid, it helps prevent fading. 

x2. I also noticed it makes the braid more limber quicker if it has a thicker coating like PP does. That is a good thing in my book.

Add me to the list that uses a heavy dose when I spool up, then a few sprays the night before a trip. Use it on all line times that I have, braid, fluoro and co-poly.

i give a good soaking the night before.....if i'm fishing within an hour or so from home

 

if i'm fishing farther away.....i'll give a good soaking to each reel before i leave that morning.

 

i think you need a pretty good soaking to get it down in the spool.  otherwise, with just 2-3 squirts you really don't penetrate down in the spool very much.  i want to make sure it gets to at least 50 yards of line.

Initial loading of line - I use it while spooling the line, then soak the spool in it after it's all on.

 

After that I squirt some on the night before a tournament and that's it.
