  1. After all the rain my club moved its tourney tomorrow to Black Hills, the high water would not have been safe at the old location. So will be interesting to see how the dirty water affects the bite. The description of the lake I got from a co-worker who drives by it on the way to work was, high and muddy.
  2. That setup would do you well, for an all around a 7 foot MH fast or x-fast would do the trick. I wouldn't leave spinning though, right tool for the job thing. Light weight baits stick with the spinning.
  3. The whole tape has been made available, initial reports were an edited down version. There is much more hate in the other portions. There is no place for hate like this.
  4. Had a decent day on the Susky yesterday, ended up with 10 smallies between 15 and 18 inches. Was not a clean day, lost 5 fish and broke one off on hookset. My boater got around 20, I lost count. He kicked my butt on tubes. Neither of us could get bit on moving baits, everything was on tubes or shakeyheads. The place is amazing though, every time you set the hook it is a good fish. Wish the wind had not kicked up as bad is it did. Made it very hard to fish the spots where we were finding most of the fish.
  5. Welcome back stranger I haven't been to BH since that day that Munkin put the beatdown on me but I would imagine they have to be around shallow wood somewhere. I am heading up to fish the Susky in Harrisburg tomorrow. Hopefully will get into some 3-4 pound smallies.
  6. All as right as the humans who entered the information.
  7. This picture showed up a couple times from my friends on facebook. I imagine the extraction was more painful. My nickname of "chatterface" pretty much explains my experience with getting an embedded hook. Still have that scar.
  8. wv, I will send you a pm with my number. Just a heads up, I may not be available parts of saturday. Heading to the susky in Harrisburg PA for some smallie action. Not sure about cell signal up there. Most everyone I have talked to has been having a slower than normal spring. Seems the up and down weather has everything all mixed up, the normal good period of fish moving up didn't occur. It was a quick move up and look for spawning areas which means they are cruising around and not eating. Have to go for reaction bites.
  9. Ha ha....yeah Munkin there is a story behind it, and pics
  10. wv, don't think the spawn is over. They were probably up shallow looking for places to spawn. With the weather everything is behind this year. Problem is when they are in this mode they don't feed much, have to try to get a reaction bite.
  11. Honestly, that is a personal decision. Everyone has different needs and wants.
  12. Love my ecoboost, great torque curve, 23mpg cruising on the highway (even with the wife driving), and she got a little over 14mpg towing a loaded two horse trailer.
  13. For the abrasions, check the guides on the rod. Are there any broken or have rough spots (you can run a Q-tip around to check).
  14. MARsSpeed, fishing from shore you need to have some plan to get to a fish once hooked. Your choice of line seems good, you can switch to braid for strength but you may then need a leader. Even with heavier line though a plan is needed because a rod is not going to lift a good up that much without running the risk of breaking.
  15. the video is great. My personal experience when I was learning and having this issue was I needed to concentrate on being smooth with the delivery. Any jerks in the motion caused a backlash.
  16. Check out the Nissan Xterra with the 4 liter V6, plenty of power.
  17. There is very little stretch in that setup, which is a good thing. You just have to adjust your hookset, no need to have a big one with it.
  18. Lendiesel, you can almost fish the whole lake which is roughly 500 acres. You were out on 121, between where you were and 270 there is Old Baltimore road, right were the road did an S curve. Take a right and about a mile down on the right is the entrance to the park. A lot of places to park and walk the shore. That is what I did when I first moved here, just walked and fished looking for areas I can get fish.
  19. Thanks for Munkin I finally got the skunk off my back for 2014, ended up with 2 fish yesterday at Black Hills. One 18in and one 19in largemouth. Now he provided me a beat down also, he got 8 fish to my 2 but it was a good learning experience for me.
  20. Homework...
  21. I am not off to a good start this year, fished BH for a couple hours with no bites. Decided to leave and go to Urbana Lake, seemed to be warmer than BH. Saw a lot of cruising bass just a couple feet off the bank, but could not elicit a single bite. Only my second time at Urbana, but will have to remember to go there a couple times. Saw some nice fish.
  22. Will be heading out in a little bit, probably head over to the stick ups at Black Hills. Looks like a great day to get out and break my skunk for 2014. Good luck everyone who is heading out. If someone wants to meet up send me a PM, it will email me.
  23. Try a drop shot along the weed edge, and on non-tourney days get away from your comfort zone.
  24. I have a Chronarch 200E7, which is outstanding. No reason to be nervous at all.
