What type of paint are you using to paint your reels? Nice lures btw.
  2. I am not from there, but my grandparents own a RV resort in Clarkfork. I go there every summer. I know of some great smallmouth fishing over there.
  3. I bought a Powell 765 today at a local shop. Took the rod out for its first journey, and I managed to snap it. It was on a fish only 2 pounds and I was pulling him to out of the cover. What you are meant to do with a flipping stick. I think I just got a lemon. Do you guys think they will replace it free of charge or make me pay the 35 to replace it?
  4. Yeah, I'd say a woolybugger would a pretty good fly to use. Its kinda like the senko of flies to me. Make sure you do use sinking line though, to get to those fish.
  5. Wow, they are some awesome looking baits. Let us know how they run.
  6. This reminds me of when I went to my grandparents house in Idaho. On the way back, I put the tip of my rod in my suitcase, and I brought the other end of my rod with me on the plane. I got a lot of funny looks. I think people thought I was a blind person ( I was wearing my shades too).
  7. To start out, I'd recommend getting a rod around 6' 6" with a medium heavy action. That rod size is pretty good for all around use. As for a reel, the Shimano Citica in 100(fits better in your hands) or 200 size is a GREAT deal. You can get them for around 90 new, and 60 used. I'd start throwing senkos weightless t-tigged. They are the most versatile bait I have every thrown. Plus, when fishing it weightless, most of the strikes are gonna be on the fall, so it is pretty darn simple to fish. Get them in any watermelon or pumpkin color. Those seem to be pretty standard colors when it comes to being universal. Hope this helps a little.
  8. How much ounces of skirt does it take to make one jig?
  9. Thanks. Now I need help on exactly what to order. I do know for sure I want to use round rubber skirt material.
  10. I am really wanting to start tying my own jigs. I am not sure yet on if I want to pour my own jig heads yet, but I for sure want to do my own skirts. What do I need as far as just buying pre-made jig heads, and tying my own? Where can I buy all of it online?
  11. I am stuck between getting a 705, 735, or 736. I will be using this rod for big senkos, flippin, and frogs. I held the 705 and tested it with a senko, and I liked it, but I am not sure if it would be able to pull big bass out of heavy cover. Anyone know if the 735 or 736 are as light as the 705? Please help me make up my mind!!
  12. You must be loaded! Let us know how they do.

Sweet! I just ordered one of them too! I can't wait to try it out. You were just slowly reeling it in or what?
  14. Forgot to mention. I prefer to have a split grip too.
  15. Your guys hit the nail on the head on this one.
  16. My buddy has one. Wasnt impressed, but hey, can't beat it for the price. Looked like it was built nice and strong.
  17. No net here. Either pull them up to shore, or lip them in my pontoon.
  18. Not a 8lb, but a nice fish non the less. Congrats! Oh yeah, I'd say its a 4-5lb too.
  19. Lucky dogs. We need one over here in Antioch! We are right here next to the Delta!!
  20. I am just getting started stocking back up. I need to order more tackle boxes as mine are getting old and not as clear as they once were.
  21. I'd say cranks, even though I catch fish on all my lures.
  22. I am in the market for my first flipping stick. My current choices are the e21 carrot stix 7' 6" heavy rod, or the daiwa light and tough 7' 6" heavy rod. Any other suggestions? I have a limit of about 150 bucks. Thanks!
  23. Me neither. I want to order some stuff!
  24. I just got into throwing jigs recently. The past couple of days I have made it the only thing I threw. Well, it has paid off. I have been slamming them. It is a GREAT lure to use, but it takes time to learn and build up the patience and confidence. But with each fish you catch on one, the more skill and confidence you get. Just visualize what you feel on the bottom as you work the jig. Good luck!
  25. Jigs, or t-rigged senkos.
