  1. I like to throw very light baits- around 1/4 oz My biggest problem is casting distance- I have no problem controlling most casts but am often challenged by long casts I typically use 6lb mono and fish mostly in-line spinners (Mepps,) topwater (Tiny Torpedo,) light jigs and small plastics Anyway if someone has some wisdom on a good set up I would appreciate any input. I have about $200 for the project and cannot be offended by any brand suggestion In someway its not really a brand issue as I would rather know things like rod length and strength suggestions, reel speed, spool size, any line suggestions thanks Shadrac

I actually wish they both did a much better job with their on-line stores and they save a few thousand trees a year. I know the next question is how to get people to go to their site- take their mailing list -send out a post card- put something creative on it like - "use this card and shipping is free" or words to that effect and people would go to the site. It would be interesting if not shocking to know what they spend on all the paper, ink and postage.
  3. hello I live in Ohio and got the flyer for the Michigan store - 100+ miles away there are a few things I might pick up is any of this available on line? thanks
  4. thanks to all who responded shadrac
  5. I use spinning equipment almost exclusively - for reasons I can't explain I am looking into a good starter baitcasting set up - wanted to keep the entire purchase a little on the cheap - $100 -150 tops Any quick opinions on the Daiwa Megaforce - If I purchase it for around $60 it gives me a whole bunch of rod options. I live in Ohio and there is no Bass Pro Shop to visit to try out combos There is a Gander Mtn nearby but haven't been too impressed with their products. thanks Shadrac "if Weber makes 'em...fish take 'em"
  6. I am with the crowd on this one. Loomis rods just feel better- feel is a huge part of fishing. One short story to confirm I bought the right rods. I was out with a buddy fishing this past November- we had a good day on the lake and were heading home. He had some tackle box fussing to attend to so he sat in the back seat for the project. Without realizing one of my Loomis rods was in the car and about 2 inches out a window. Neither of us noticed this- my buddy got cold and rolled the window up snipping those 2 inches right off. I sent it Loomis with a "head held low shameful" letter. They replaced the rod for the cost of the shipping. Bravo Loomis Shadrac
  7. Hello I use the Pop Max (1/2 ounce) and Pop X (1/4 ounce.) Largemouth love the pop Max and smallmouth love the pop X My favorite color to throw is the Midnight Bone in the Max size and Black Bug in the Pop X size but I live in Ohio and its overcast often. Clear days I switch to a lighter color or frog. If you are an ebay person you can usually find a little better price...I wish they were cheaper but they outfish every other top water popper I have tried. good fishing Shadrac
  8. Hello gentlemen thank you for the quick response I fish a couple small lakes with lots of 1LB bass both largemouth and smallmouth one lake has lots of pads but the other is not too congested and just wanted a down sized set up for times when the one pounders are hitting thanks Jim

  10. This is a little off topic...but I have always wondered why none of these guys don't make a knock off of the top water baits by Sisson and Bagley- the rat fink was a great top water bass bait- and they get about $30 each on eBay if anyone knows of someone who makes a a Rat Fink could you post it? thanks Shadrac
  11. To all who recommended the Pop Max...thank you Because you can't buy one for your friend without having one for yourself I tend to like darker top water baits so I bought the Midnight Bone color Yesterday he caught two three pounders on the frog color and I got lucky with a 4.5 lb largemouth on my color for a small lake in Ohio that is a darn good day they are great baits thanks again Shadrac

  18. Hello wanted to throw my .02 on that lure I also got one from ebay...I am a topwater lure collector It casts great, works great as a wake bait or a twitch and stop lure I just used the 110 Lap Stick last week in Canada it caught 2 muskies, about a dozen smallmouth - one around 4 lbs, 2 rock bass and one very aggressive perch I was on a good lake but that's nice coverage from one bait shadrac
  19. My dad had a few of those and I remember it as a great walleye bait too prompted me to check ebay on the bait: http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-EVENS-SHYSTER-SPINNERS-ON-DISPLAYBOARD-NOS_W0QQitemZ120134148602QQihZ002QQcategoryZ794QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem the display board has some additional information about the bait best Shadrac
  20. RoadWarrior you always provide great advice Now its a matter of buying the rod, for a lake that I visit 3 days a year Thanks
  21. Hello Jig Man didn't want to spend more than $150 but if the best rod for the job is more I would look into it thanks
  22. Hello I have a need for a light action spinning rod It would be used almost exclusivley as a smallmouth rod. I fish this one lake in Canada and these fish just love #3 Mepps and smaller Rooster Tails. I throw every smallmouth bait known to man at these fish but #3 mepps consistently produces fish over 3 pounds. Now I need a good rod that will throw lures between 1/8 and 3/8 oz any recommendations will help model, length, etc thank you Shadrac
  23. Looks like Cabelas has answered the price http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/home/doorway-home.jsp?vendor=door_228.jsp&cmCat=catrtfish
  24. http://www.reedssports.com/main.taf?cat=51 I purchased a Shimano Stradic from Reeds on Sunday - I checked the site yesterday and found them on sale Called them up and the immediatly sent me a credit slip for the difference They also have a great policy on Loomis rods Have to be careful with on-line endorsements but so far this has been a very nice and fair vendor. And if you are missing the far north ...when they put you on hold you hear a rushing stream with a loon in the distance. fwiw so glad I found this site!!!!!!!!! Shadrac
