fishing trip in northeast where to go?
I'm not very familiar with northeast fishing, however; last June my brother and I took a trip to Paradox Lake in the Adirondacks. There is one area on the lake known as the "the narrows." We caught all kinds of largemouth up to 4.5 lbs and small pike on frogs (strike king rage tail). It was a blast. We were also fishing out of a canoe.

Kayakin' for Bass
Yeah, that's a conservative estimate. It may have been closer to six. 22 1/4", didn't get a girth.. The first fight was exciting to say the least. I actually caught her on a log jam on the dam, so as the fish was pulling me around, I had to keep making sure I wasn't going over the dam. At one point I actually had to hold the rod with my legs and paddle a few times while the fish was still fighting! It's a wonder I actually landed her. Talk about an adrenaline rush

Kayakin' for Bass
Thanks guys, this was the most fun I've had fishing in a long time. Caught these guys on topwater too, which makes it even better. Yeah, it is tough to hold the camera back behind you and get the fish in frame. I have thought about getting a mount; that may be my next purchase. I still have a lot to learn about kayaking.

Look what I found
I think gar are awesome fish. A lot of bass fisherman hate them, and I've never really figured out why. I once watched under a light at night, about a 2 in gar chase and eventually catch a little inch-long fry of some sort. The gar T-boned it and just waddled off. Coolest thing ever.

Kayakin' for Bass
Well, I just purchased my first kayak yesterday, took it out for two hours and caught by biggest bass to date, ~5.5 lbs: Then, I took it out again this evening and caught a PR again! 6.5 lbs this time: Anyone around here ever kayak fish? I'm loving it so far

St Croix Avid series rod reviews
I had a 7' M Avid that I loved. I recently upgraded to the Legend Tournament, but to be honest, I kind of miss my Avid.

Carp! HELP?
They're really fun to catch on fly rods if your into that. If you see any cruising around the surface, they'll usually eat about any kind of wet fly. Fun stuff.

Fish Weight Formula
Yeah, I hate when people catch a 4 lber and say its 6. That's why I want the best estimate. I'm pretty good at estimating weights below 5 lbs, but neither of us had ever caught one that big. I think we're fairly safe saying it was a 9 lber. I'm sure it was a very gravid female.

Fish Weight Formula
My friend caught a big LMB today, but we didn't have a scale to weigh her. We did take length and girth measurements and I've used a few formulas from different sites and the weights range from 8.88-10.5 lbs. (the one on here gives 10.44) Does the IGFA have a species specific formula?? Anyone ever test a specific formula with a known weight? The measurements are 24" TL x 18.5". Thanks

Reel reviews/opinions needed
I have a Carbonlite and threw a Bandit 200 series with it all day last Saturday. Worked great. I have the reel on a Bucoo rod and it is a crazy light combo. I love it. I have no experience with the Pro Qualifier.

Spinning reel "mag" spools?
I'm not sure if the newest Johnny Morris model falls into the category of "oversized" spools, but I have one and I really can't tell much of a difference between it and my reels with the smaller diameter spools. I like it though...

question about buying a new rod
I say tell him to get the baitcaster; I'm sure he'll love it after a little practice.

More hard baits
Awesome. I like the jerkbait and craw.

Jigs: Round 2
Thanks. I did seal the unpainted one. Not sure what to think of it, though.

Jigs: Round 2
I've been trying my hand at some Poison Tails and here is a few I've come up with so far: http://s133.photobucket.com/albums/q69/ionhero/Jigs/Poison%20Tails/ What do you guys think of the Silver Shad w/ the unpainted head?? Going for a little more shine à la War Eagle Custom Lures. Any and all feed back is appreciated.

First Jigs!
I used the do-it weedless brush jig mold. Thanks for the words of encouragement everyone. I can definitely see how this could get addicting. Lots of fun.

First Jigs!
I finished my first batch of jigs last night from pour to finish. Some turned out nice, others not so much... Here's a link to a few photos, let me know what you think. http://s133.photobucket.com/albums/q69/ionhero/Jigs/?action=view¤t=SANY0292.jpg

Hmm...maybe you're on to something there, Bobby, a new, revolutionary lure design possibly??

Jig mold with wide gap hook
I'm completely new to tackle making and was wondering if there is a weedless football jig mold available that can be used with a wide gap hook (3 or 4/0). Thanks

Huge Spots
I'm not sure if this video has come up on here before, but I just found it and thought it was pretty cool. Not sure if these guys are 10 lbs, but they are definitely some huge spots. There are two videos of the same fish:

Your Favorite Bronzeback Lure?
A tube or shakey head craw has definitely been the most productive for me, however, topwater is where it's at when the bite's on.
