Don't know...can't recall a review on the Forum.

I fish 13 Shimanos and one STX. I like Shimano.

::)

The reel I would recommend is the Stradic 2500

That's a pretty stout spinning rod.  What applications do you have in mind for it?

I had a 7' M Avid that I loved. I recently upgraded to the Legend Tournament, but to be honest, I kind of miss my Avid.  :)

i like the MH rods for all types of applications mainly spinnerbaits and rubbers for some reason a stiffer rod works better for me then a lighter action rods combined with 10lb suffixs braid i love it

I like the Avid series quite a bit. They're a big step up from the Premier series, sensitivity-wise. I have two of their fly rods, 2 casting rods, and the very same spinning rod you're looking at, the AVS70MHF.

I'm happy with the rod. It has plenty of backbone, and a very supple tip thats useful for tossing lighter lures like unweighted plastics. I use it mostly for dock skipping and heavy tube jigs, but I also sometimes toss flukes and 1/16 and 1/8 oz Texas Rigs and jigs with it around light cover. There's more than enough backbone to handle hooksets with T rigs and jigs.

They also make a very useful, multi purpose rod for my guests who don't know how to use baitcasters. I convinced 2 friends to buy these rods as their main bass rod because they are so versatile. They match it up with 20 lb braid and mainly throw 1/4 - 3/8 oz spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, Senkos, lipless cranks and light T Rigs. I think those who opt to use spinning over baitcasting tackle would be very pleased with this rod.

I fish the Avid:

AVS70MF

AVC62MXF

AVC66MHF

AVC73MHF

Great rod for the price! One of my favorite things about the Avid rods is the grips. I'm not a fan of the split grips on some of St Croix higher priced rods. It's not that SC makes bad split grips I just don't like any split grips. The Avid's contoured grips fit my hand perfectly. They are lite and sensitive but with plenty of backbone.

Unless something has changed, their reels are just mid-level Daiwas with a St Croix logo on them.  You can pretty much figure out which reels exactly by comparing the price points.

Im with you on this i think the Legend torny rods are not worth the price at all i really dont think there very sensitive compaired to the avid.. i dont own a avid but my cousin does and iv fished with it and its much better imo then the ltb.. but a step up would be a imx or even better a glx  8-)

I own one avid 7'mh and its fantastic. It was the first high end rod I bought ever. Now I also own 6 loomis glx rods and honestly they arent twice as nice for twice the price. They are a lil lighter and more sensitive but you have to pay a lot for a little difference. Stick with the avid series over anything else in that price range including shimano cumaras which are just overpriced chinese rods. The only thing bout the avid is the handle is a lil on the thick side but you can sand that hump right off pretty easily if it doesnt feel right to you.

Oh and I have to disagree bout suggesting the shimano stradic ci4. I own one and it is the most overrated piece of gear I have ever had in my hands. Yes it is a lil lighter then alot of other reels but it isnt nearly as smooth as a regular stradic and the handle is way way too short , not to mention you dont get a spare spool with it and that will really limit someone who only has a few rods and reels to take fishing.

Good luck with whatever you choose, you wont regret buying anything from st croix.

What everybody says.  Avid = excellent rod.  I've traded and sold quite a few of my rods, but I never thought about off-loading my Avids.  You cannot go wrong with an Avid.

I fished with a few Premiers and really liked them. I bought an Avid and loved it. A huge step up from a Premier to an Avid. I now have three Avids. The Avids are lighter, more sensitive, and just "feel" better.

You won't be dissapointed.
