Summertime Funk
You are getting some good tips on presentation and times to go. Have you ever consider getting yourself some hip or chest waders? Could help you get out a little deeper to where they may be, at odd times during the day.

Reel Size
Not that others will not work, but in my experience, I follow what .ghoti stated.

Fenwick Hmx Spinning Rods
In the past I have used the Eagle GT, HMX, and the HMG. I have enjoyed the HMX and HMG the most and they are great all purpose rods. I do not think you will be disappointed at all. esox

Low End Reel Manufacturers
Don't quote me here, and if anyone is in the know, please correct me, but I thought that some of Cabela's named reels are made by Daiwa, and Gander Mountains are made by Pure Fishing.

Without A Paddle
Here's a thought, what about a Float Tube, not the most glamourous but it will get you away from the shore. I had a buddy years ago that would wait till the water warmed up enough to be comfortible and then slap on some fins, jump into hs float tube and off he would go. Of course he usually fished smaller bodies of waters that did not have a high boat traffic, if it did he would keep it closer to shore for safety reasons. He used to catch some nice fish doing this.Tubes can run from 70.00 into the several hundreds.

Bass Fishing Goals For 2013
1. Catch a bass on what I have dubbed the "A Jay" jig (shown by member A Jay in "Do you use skirts on your plastics" topic), and use jigs more in general. 2. Catch my first fish on a fluke and sluggo. 3. Throw more of a variety of plastics besides the senko. 4. Take my kids fishing a lot more.

Right Track For Braid?
I follow this rule of thumb for the most part: single hook = braid, treble hook = mono.

Need Help Finalizing Decision
I really like the loomis brand (own a gl3) and the fact that they use full cork on their MBR and Mossyback series. So with that said, I am pulling the trigger today on a mbr843c imx today for senkos and t-rigged plastics. I am also going to pickup one of these two: Another mbr843 imx, or a bcr804c. This rod will be my primary jig rod for pitching mainly. If you had to choose, which would you choose and why?

Spinnerbaits
I always use a trailer, but never a trailer hook. Anyone recommend a company that makes a quality 3/4 oz spinnerbait?

Smithwick
Awesome! Another great addition to Bass Resource.

Mossyback Or Avid?
Looking for some input in regards to sensitivity between the 6'8" BCR804C and the Avid 7' MHF? Primarily for jigs and maybe the occasional worm.

Loomis Mbr783C For Jigs
Thanks for the replies guys. Helps with my confidence issue with this rod when I hear others successes with it.

Loomis Mbr783C For Jigs
For those of you that have used this rod, what is the heaviest jig you have used on it? When I hold it I do not get the overwhelming sense it has the power to drive a thick jig hook effectively past the weed gaurd and into the bass's jaws.

Are These St. Croix Spinning Rods Any Good?
I own the 6'6" Light in the Triumph. Works real well for fishing panfish and crappie. I really like using it for tiny crankbaits. I have owned the Premier line also in the past and would have to agree with Stasher1, that I really never saw a real difference between the Premier and Triumph lines.

Do You Match Your Gear?
All Shimano reels with either St. Croixs or Loomis rods.

Inshore Rods For Bass
I have been using the loomis PR8400S for small crankbaits. Works pretty well, however I have been seriously considering switching to St. Croix's TIS70MM.

You came to the right conclusion, IMO. Experience will be your best teacher.

Nicknames
I am not sure why, but my fishing buddy thinks I only have one type of lure in my tackle box, called the badboy. "I think I will tie on this badboy". "Wait until they see this badboy in action". "This badboy should catch something".

Baitcaster Vs. Spinning For Senkos
I use a baitcaster for 5" senkos, but nothing wrong with using a spinning rod to do the same.

What Lure Are You Going To Teach Yourself To Fish This Year?
Jigs and Jerkbaits. When summer is in full swing, deep diving crankbaits.
