  1. I use a MHMF for deeper crankbaits. You may want to give that a try.
  2. I have several GL3's and I like them a lot, but do think they are a bit over priced. I think you can find as good or better (St. Croix Avids) for a bit less money.
  3. Crucials are nice rods, but I use a Fenwick HMG, 7'0" MMF spinning rod for bandit 100 and 200's and it works great, you may want to take a look at them.
  4. Happy New Year Everyone! Just getting into making my own inline spinners for something to do over the winter months. I want to make them for Bass and Northern Pike. My dilema is that I am not sure what wire gauge to use for either species. I don't want to go to light so that it bends the shaft if a decent sized fish grabs hold. I guess I am looking for any advice as to minimum/maximum size, from any of you who have ever made your own inline spinners? Thanks in advance. Esox
  5. I have 8 Avids and 2 GL3's and a GL2. They all are very nice rods and I enjoy all of them. But with that being said, the Avid has more back bone. As far as sensitivity goes, IMHO, from the least sensitive to the most sensitive: GL2 > GL3> Avid. I cannot comment on the Shimano, never used one, so I do not know where it would fall in the sensitivity ranking.
  6. For the worms, I prefer the xf, for the cranks, I prefer the mod fast. So if you need a rod that needs to do both, the 7' fast (right in between) would probably be the way to go.
  7. You won't be disappointed. My current lineup: AVS68MXF AVC62MXF AVC68MXF AVC66MF AVC66MHF AVC66MHM AVC66HF
  8. Check out JoBaby Lures.
  9. I have used power pro for awhile now and really like it. However, I will spool up at least one reel with Fireline braid, just to do a comparison. As far as digging into a spool, I have never had an issue, but that might be because I always put on a mono backer first, then the braid.
  10. Which ones have you tried? It would help to know, so we are not suggesting one's you have tried already.
  11. I have both. I prefer the symetre over the pflueger. However, for 15.00 less, it may be too hard to pass up.
  12. Thanks for the replies. It is a baitcaster.
  13. Just curious, do any of you use a baitcaster for vertical jigging or Lindy rigging? If so, what rod power and action do you use, and what brand of baitcaster? Thanks.
  14. I have a St. Croix Avid MH Moderate action that collects a lot of dust. So, I was wondering what people's opinions are in regards to using it for Pike. At most of my fishing holes, the pike are lucky to get around 35", most are in the 20" to 28" range. With that being said, what are your opinions? (it is not a rod I would take to areas that are known for large pike, I would only use it for the ranges listed above. I worry, because of the action, that it may take longer to land a larger fish, and don't want them to be exhausted prior to release.) Thanks,
  15. Curious to know how these rods stand up to the St. Croix Avid or Loomis GL3 in the sensitivity department. If anyone has had experience with using any or all of these rods, any insight or recommendations will be appreciated. Thanks, esox
  16. Hi Marc, I have the Matrix II MT10HS reel (emblem on reel says Limited eddition). Love this reel, but Pinnacle no longer makes them. My question is, what do you have in your current lineup that is comparible in quality and performance? Thanks, Esox
  17. Wayne, do you use that chart. senko in stained or clear water?
  18. Considering purchasing one of these. If anyone has any experience with them or any information or insight, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. esox
  19. Baitcaster. More for accuracy in casting than anything else. There are plenty of anglers that are very accurate with a Spinning rod, I'm just not one of them.
  20. I have had one going on 2 years and like it a lot.
  21. Thanks for the help guys. I am going to be picking up two Curado's in the next couple of weeks.
  22. Reason I am looking at the Curado is that my Budget is 200.00 or less.
  23. Thinking about getting a Curado 200E7 for throwing zoom trick worms, Rage Anaconda's and such, weightless. I would be using a 4/0 or 5/0 hook. Rod would be either St. Croix Avid 6'8" MXF or Loomis MBR843C (in case it would make a difference). Is the Curado a good choice for such light weight lures for casting a reasonable distance? Thanks in advance for your experiences, thoughts or opinions. Esox
  24. I have a St.Croix Triumph TRS66LF that I can toss a 1/16th oz. a pretty fair distance.
