6'6'' compre med hvy med fast -what to do?

Featured Replies

a friend of mine bought a baitcasting rod last year and he decided it isnt really for him so i took it off his hands for the time being, its a shimano  compre medium heavy medium fast 6' 6" , what do you guys think? these rods any good? Worm rod? what would you use this for? i do need a jerkbait rod since i broke mine last year, could i get away with this or is it for me to be using med with a fast taper?

Cheers

Compre is a decent rod. It would make a nice topwater rod... Also good for light plastics and jig applications.

I use a 6'8 for jerkbaits but that should work as well.

Give it a whirl; I think you'll like it.

I use a MHMF for deeper crankbaits. You may want to give that a try.

Do me a favor grey, explain to me how to obviously tell the reasoning behind why its obviously as crank bait, I'm here to learn

I have a 6'6" M-Med Fast Compre (the older brown blank).  I use it for topwaters, especially smaller spook-type walking baits.  I prefer the shorter length for tip-down presentations like this and it's been a great rod.  I bought it for $30 on clearance last year and it's one of my favorites to fish.  Quick enough tip for working the walking baits or topwater poppers, or even smaller crankbaits, but a slower action for keeping them buttoned up on the treble hooks.
