well after i took that video i set the minnow trap down there. i went down there to check the trap today and got a full load! i saw about 3 or 4 warmouths in the trap, but after i opened the trap and dumped the fish in a bucket, there were no warmouths :-? anyway, about 95 percent of the fish in the trap were GOLDEN SHINERS. there were a few black nose dace in there too. the biggest golden shiner was caught in the trap and it was about 3 or 4 inches long, but it was covered in these specks. they werent part of the fish's pattern, because they were raised bumps, but it wasnt dirt or something because it didnt rub off. perhaps this was a parasite or disease or something? while i was down there tonight i decided i'd try my luck fishing ;D i put a size 20 hook on 6lb line tied to the end of the top half of an ultralight rod. boloney for bait. about 3 "casts" into it i hooked up with the first fish of the day. a whopping 1" long golden shiner! ;D next "cast" i hooked another one, and when i pulled it out of the water, it flopped off the hook and into my lap and into the water so i didnt get a pic of that one. here are pics.... the biggest one: top view of the biggie:

micro, what color is the one on the bottom of your photo (not in the package)? i've been thinking about buying one but i dont like any of the colors, but i havent seen that color on any website and i like that color!

i reccomend you get a thin piece of wood. that will sink with the least amount of ballast. it would take a lot of lead to swimbait made from a 2x4. i reccomend you go to walmart and check out their craft department. at the local walmarts around me, they sell 5"x7"x3/8" piece of basswood for 97 cents a piece. stock up on these and make your lures from them. they dont require much lead to get them to sink. as for photo finishing, heres a great tutorial: http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/hard-baits/7671-photo-finishing-foil-faux-finishes-tutorial.html good luck and have fun!

you should only be putting enough mono to cover the spool like 3 times (three passes of the level wind). thats how much i put on at least. when you have only that much mono and the rest power pro, you should not be casting out the uni-uni knot...

this is the lure i have i do believe it is the same lure. i cant wait to fish this. i think it will do well. how were you fishing it?

if your reel has a ported spool like this: those are the holes they are telling you to tie your line to. theyre telling you to slide your line in one hole and out the other (no jokes please... ) and then tie it like that. as for arbor tape, its like a thin piece of foam with adhesive backing. they should have inluded a small sheet with like 4-5 piece of arbor tape in the package....did you notice a white foam sheet about 3" long by 2" wide? if so, that is the arbor tape they are talking about. it's pre-cut and you just peel a piece off, stick it on your spool, and tie your ilne over that. personally, i dont trust either of these methods and i just use mono backing. i havent had any issues.

please share which lures you used... i have one of the big 5.5" xrap jointed shads, made for fresh or salt water (has saltwater hooks). i have not fished it because i havent had a rod that could cast it, but now i do, and i am curious how it will work out.

im not sure if that bait is the one where the hard portion is in the middle or the nose. i know mann's has one "senko" out where the hard portion is in the middle, making it only possible to utilize the "hard nose technolgy" if you wacky rig the bait. the nose of the bait in your link looks to be slightly larger and a different texture/color, so these worms are probably not the ones made for wacky rigging.
