  1. weedless plastics ontop/edges punching thru with tungsten weights.
  2. i've heard the revolution shads are junk, and i've heard the spro bbz-1 shads are good. haven't used either though.
  3. think he's just sharing what works for him. whats "cheese" is it that light green nasty scum that bubbles up on the surface?
  4. ...really? :-? how 'bout some specifics.
  5. excellent suggestion endless, you will get in big trouble if you have live ones in your possession, not dead ones.
  6. i see you already found the pic, in the Tackle Making section
  7. you got that right barry! and i haven't said exactly what it is because i was asked not to say exactly what it is by the guy who reccomended it to me. but so far i'm not incredibly impressed with it. the finish is not as hard as i thought it would get, even after 4 days (cure time 72 hrs.)
  8. good job! bet they were fun to catch.
  9. Seems to me that since the OP hasn't responded to this question yet has found the time to post several other places that there really wasn't much to boast about and was instead just being...well, I won't say what he was being. I'm new here, after all. Thanks anyway, "Dave". yup this about sums it up. i haven't had a chance to thoroughly test it yet, so as of yet, there's nothing to boast about, except that it looks pretty good. i'll let you know how i really like it after i put it to the test. didn't realize this would get controversial : ;D
  10. haha that sounds like fun! and I already have the UL Spinning gear. does there seem to be a "best spider color?" I gotta try this out! black. or white. also, if you bluegills are finicky toward the spider, catskills style dry flies work great too. color doesn't really matter much for these, i like mosquito.
  11. foam spiders for the win!
  12. just remembered one, silversides. these little fish are d**n near clear even at 5-6" long! http://ucce.ucdavis.edu/datastore/datastoreview/showpage.cfm?usernumber=52&surveynumber=241
  13. that was kind of my intention ;D
  14. i haven't used them but from what i've read they make a grinding noise as braid goes through them under tension.
  15. this is a little 3" bluegill swimmer i made. not yet assembled, waiting for the topcoat to fully cure. i decided that i wanted to try hand painting a bluegill and see how it would turn out. turned out ok i think. i really like the tail half of this, i wish i didn't paint the head so dark. i'm going to do another one and try and improve the paintjob.
  16. i don't know any specific baitfish that are transparent, but most small fish are somewhat transparent, regardless of species. heck, it could even simulate a small school of those tiny transparent minnows fleeing. i think the main attracting factor in clear topwater baits is that fact that its up there making a commotion, but the bass can't really tell what it is, so it instinctively attacks to investigate.
  17. what is the purpose of a black zara spook? what is the purpose of a white zara spook? what is the purpose of a gold zara spook? its just another color option thats available plus, some baitfish are transparent.
  18. poppers, jitterbugs, and torpedo's are my favorite topwaters. brush hogs aren't topwater lures but they do crush some bass
  19. small businesses for the win!
  20. make you own. you can use the wire out of those twist ties that come with garbage bags. just melt the plastic off the twist tie and there you have a nice little wire. bent it in half, put the bent end on the barb how you want it, and tie the loose ends to the shank of the hook with thread and coat it in superglue. i used to make weedguards for my flies like this.
  21. that is a really big bait
  22. C is a bluegill, not a red ear. look at the soft dorsal and you can see the dark "thumbprint" that is the tell-tale sign of bluegills.
  23. um, try two and a half years... ;D
