  1. I have a 1984 Mercury 50 that is getting to where it will only run my 17 foot Bass Tracker at 24 mph. It seems to run just fine, but doesn't have any power. What is involved in having an outboard rebuilt? Is it worth it considering what a new one costs?

    What's the problem with it?
  3. My first reaction was, "Whenever SWMBO says it's OK."
  4. I can't wait for my grandchildren to get big enough to fish with me. You are a lucky dude, George.

If it didn't, it should have.

We have all seen those photos on BR of guys holding their bass in one hand while reaching out as far as possible to take a self portrait with the camera in the other hand. Check this out: It's called a Quik Pod.
  7. I always found those run-ins from a spring rain to be great places to fish on Cumberland. That is a fabulous lake.
  8. Did you do the deck extension?
  9. ...your wife calls your cell phone while you are fishing: "Hey Honey, I've got some news. Beth (our younger daughter) just called. Daniel (our just-turned-two grandson) pee-peed in the potty." You know you are a grandfather when you are excited about the news and want to call the relatives and tell them the good news. .
  10. Here's my 1984 Bass Tracker Tournament TX. It was my Dad's until his passing about 18 months ago.
  11. Glad to have you onboard. You can learn a lot from the folks here. They are a bunch of fine ladies and gentlemen. I would like to make one suggestion, though. This is not text messaging, so please use punctuation and capitalization in your posts so they are readable.
  12. That is the key to Force motors. They had no bells and whistles and were pretty old technology.
  13. Baby Brush Hog with a one ouce weight flipped through the hydrilla on Lake Seminole.
  14. As an old Southern boy, I would rather use baitcasting rigs myself. In my rare honest moods I have to admit that all of my really big bass have come on spinning equipment. I will start out most days throwing spinnerbaits and/or lipless crankbaits. If those don't produce, I will slowdown with a Texas rigged worm. If that doesn't work I will pick up the spinning outfit with a Senko. It isn't my favorite lure to fish, but it works well. My greatest weakness? Jigs.
  15. I'm shopping for a new truck also. My four cylinder Mazda just has to work too hard to pull my Bass Tracker. It's a 1999 and has 127,000 miles on it. I have hardly spent any money on this truck the whole time I have had it so I will be buying an extended cab Ranger or Mazda with a six cylinder. I was at the Toyota dealer the other day looking at their Tacoma. My goodness, Mr. Toyota is mighty proud of his trucks. They are fine trucks but I don't need anything that fine. I really don't want a full sized truck and don't need anything bigger than a six to pull the boat. My biggest problem has been that the local Ford and Mazda dealers have no inventory!
  16. The two storage drop-ins on the back deck of my 1984 Bass Tracker Tournament TX need to be replaced. Tracker Marine doesn't have them available. Does anyone know of a source for replacement drop ins?
  17. You da man, Chris. I am fishing out of a 24 year old Bass Tracker and having the time of my life. I fish cheap.
  18. You know what I like about his videos? He doesn't need a $30,000 Ranger to catch these monster bass.
  19. Did you get to meet Mr. Wingate while you were there? He's a bit of a legend.
  20. I just remembered that some of the older black folks in Kentucky called them Newlights. From what I can tell, this usage is limited to Kentucky.
  21. I would take those bass any day. I *** you getting to fish with your Dad. Now, pull up those pants! ;D
  22. A lot of folks like to use glass rods for crankbaits. They feel like it helps inprove the hookup ratio. I would keep it. It sound like what you need.
  23. Here in Florida crappie are called "speckled perch," bluegill are "brim," and pickerel are called "jack fish" or "jacks."
  24. Funny you should mention that. I was looking for a spinning rod for fishing Senkos and ended up buying a St. Croix Premier from the same shop last week. (I hope SWMBO doesn't get too upset with me.) It seems awfully nice for the money too. I know Muddy has complained about problems with the guide inserts falling out, but it has a five year warranty, so I am not too worried about it.
