As good as Jimi was, SRV was the guitarist whose licks I would love to have imitated.
  2. Young fella next door bought one and complained that he was having a terrible time with it. He was not aware that he had to first set the spool tension on the side where the crank is. Once I showed him how to do that then set the magnetic brake he is doing OK with it. I have a Revo SC and have been pleased with how well it casts light lures. It casts an unweighted Senko like a jig.
  3. It's not just drummers that get abused: Why do violists leave their instrument cases on the dashboards of their cars? So they can park in "handicapped" parking places. If someone mistakes them for mafia, they might get some respect.
  4. Know what they call a guy that likes to hang around with musicians? A drummer.
  5. We Campagnolo guys would just pull down our lycra shorts and moon him as we rode by
  6. Tell you what I really like - Tilburg's Dutch Brown Ale
  7. I picked up a six pack of Octoberfest and drank the first one last night. I wasn't really impressed. It was a lot less malty than I had hoped. One thing that I did notice was that about 30 minutes after drinking it I got a headache. It may have just been a coincidence, but some beers give me unbelievable headaches. I'll do a scientific test tonight and see if it happens again.
  8. After reading a number of articles about FC and seeing some friends' experiences with it, I don't think I'll ever use it. It's disadvantages and problems seem to be greater than any perceived advantages.
  9. Hey, get Christine on the line. I have an 18 month old grandson that is outgrowing most of his FSU stuff... She and I need to talk.
  10. Deb, is this your first grandbaby? If so, you are going to love it.
  11. It's the same as a Senko; made by the same company. I have always seen them at about the same price as a Senko.
  12. I remember when I was a kid, my next door neighbor would take the metal lip from a Jitterbug and put it on a Dalton Special. He and his friends called it a Walkie Talkie. Seems like I remember Dalton making a lure like that called a Dalton Twist.
  13. No, but we had the Weather Channel to tell us when bad weather was imminent and we got off the water before that. : Trust me, if SWMBO would permit me to buy a bigger boat with more power, I would do it, but I am not going to quit fishing just because my old Bass Tracker only has a fifty on it.
  14. Those are mighty plump coyotes. All of my relatives back in Kentucky who raise cattle keep donkeys in the pasture with the cattle. It seems that donkeys hate coyotes and will chase them off.
  15. The WalMart on Thomasville Road has a few in both sizes.
  16. I would question the sanity of anyone who would go out when the weather was forecast to be that bad. I have fished on Corps of Engineers reservoirs, mostly in Kentucky and Tennessee, for more than forty years and have never been caught in anything like that.
  17. I use the 1/2 oz white with black stripes. It has a little red on the nose. I haven't bought any in Tallahassee, but if I see any I'll let you know.
  18. Absolutely. It's my favorite topwater. I hope to get to fish it on Seminole once the hydrilla dies down some. We flipped the hydrilla out in front of Wingate's and up in Spring Creek area all day Saturday and only caught 4.
  19. Let's say we both buy a boat that is rated for a maximum 115 hp and I put a 90 on mine while you put the 115 on yours. I can run maybe 50 mph while you can run 60 mph. Just because my boat does not have the maximum size engine it is approved for does not make it underpowered. It may be underpowered if I am trying to run 60 mph. How would my boat be any less safe than yours?
  20. Sam Adams Honey Porter is hard to beat.
  21. Laura Gober won it with 34-9. Marcia finished 14th with 20-2. http://proxy.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/members/ldr/leaderboard?class=1&tournamentId=788
  22. I fished Lake Seminole out of Jack Wingates Lunker Lodge yesterday. When we came back in to the store a guy was watching the weigh-in on his computer. "Hey," I said, "how did my girl Marcia Rubin do today?" The guys behind the counter glared at me a reminded me that "this is Pam Marin-Wells territory."
  23. That's only important if you are tournament fishing. You might be too young to remember back when the maximum allowable horsepower in BASS tournaments was 85 hp. Those guys caught a lot of fish without having to run 60 mph.
  24. Man, I'd take that kind of bassin' any day over a day flipping the hydrilla. That was fun.
  25. Last year I took my wife to a very nice restaurant for dinner. The waiter suggested Ridge Paso Robles, a red zinfandel. It sells for about $25 a bottle when I can find it, but even at that price it is a steal.
