lippin um!!
Using a net would just lead to other unfortunate habits like fishing with live bait, trolling, or using spinning tackle for all your fishing. Start using a landing net and the next thing you know you'll be headed for shore lunch. It's a slippery slope.

Naming your boat
When I had my little jon boat I always wanted to paint the name "Ringer" on it using the same script as the Ranger boats logo.

"4" is too slow and "5" is too fast
Got any idea where to get one?

Just Hilarious!!!
I don't get it. Someone explain it to me.

"4" is too slow and "5" is too fast
I have a problem with my Minn Kota Edge 40 pound thrust motor. There is a huge jump in power between the 4 and 5 speed setting. I am using it on a 17 foot Bass Tracker. Speeds 1 through 3 are so slow as to be almost unusable. Speed 4 is OK as long as there is very little headwind. Speed five will just about jerk you out of the boat when you start. Minn Kota is sending me a new switch, but I am afraid that the problem may be the speed coil. I noticed on the Bass Pro Shops Web site that someone else complained of the same problem. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

OLD FART HAIR CUT?
This discussion reminded me of the time Ray Scott was talking to a fella that was going to be Billy Westmoreland's partner in a tournament. "Don't say nothin' about Billy's hair. It got blowed off in the war."

Broken Rod :(
I hate it when that happens. I lost my balance and sat down on a two week old All Star rod recently and broke it. I replaced it with a Shimano Carbomax rod that was about half the price but is a much better rod anyway. I think these are the best value in rods out there.

Anyone going to the classic this year?
I hope they have some water to fish in come Classic time.

I got a deer!!!! 10/27/07
Dad did. I almost threw up on my first deer but I guess I'll have to get over it. Yeah, it'll be good training for when you have kids and have to change that first poopy diaper.

Lake Talquin Oct. 27
I just started fishing Talquin recently so I am afraid I am not familiar with Josh. I read an post on a local board this evening stating that the specks are really starting to show up in about 10-15 feet of water.

Did you field dress him or did Dad do it?

Lake Talquin Oct. 27
I am like a little kid on Christmas Eve the night before a day of fishing. I couldn't sleep and kept waking up and looking at the clock. I finally got up at 5:15 and got to the lake about 6:30 a.m. Problem is, Lake Talquin is so full of stumps that I am afraid to get out on it until daylight. I am going to buy some land on Lake Talquin and erect a windmill to generate electricity. I'll be rich in no time since the wind seems to blow constanty on that lake. We finally found a spot just out of Little River that held some fish and was protected enough to fish. I caught about 8 fish, I guess, but they were all little guys except for this one 3 pounder. I am becoming a big fan of the Aruku Shad. I generally resist buying expensive baits, but my neighbor had me try one while fishing in his boat this summer and I immediately started catching fish. Most of the fish I caught yesterday came on the Aruku, including one bluegill that wasn't a whole lot bigger than the bait.

What's your favorite peice of fishing equipment?
I have a Berkley Lightning Rod spinning rod that I bought in the late 1980s. I have caught almost all of my 6+ pound bass using that rod. I'll be using it again tomorrow morning.

A Great Time to be a Fan...
Can't you do anything about getting Manny a haircut, a uniform that fits, and a clean batting helmet? How can anyone stand to look that skanky? I know that's "just Manny being Manny."

Have People Lost Their Minds???
Reminds me of the little boy standing on the corner selling apples. He had a sign advertising "Apples, $1,000,000 each". A passerby commented that he sure wasn't going to sell many apples at that price. The boy responded, "I only need to sell one."

boat and tightness of winch strap?
Sounds like they are not building their launch ramps far enough into the water.

You know your a bait junky when...................
I used to think that about my wife, but she surprised me Sunday morning when I was watching a fishing show. A professional (I don't remember who) was weighing in and SWMBO commented, "Look at that. He has a Trilene patch and a Stren patch on his shirt!" I was amazed that she knew that Stren and Trilene were, or at least used to be, competitors. "You better be careful," she said, "there's a lot I know that you don't know I know."

BPS Rods vs. Pflueger or Falcon?
+1 I bought a Pflueger Trion recently and it has quickly become my favorite. I also recently bought a Shimano Carbomax rod for about $50 that I am thrilled with.

You know your a bait junky when...................
Our supermarket has a display where they sell gift cards from a number of stores including Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops. I offer to do the grocery shopping pretty often so I can buy a gift card. SWMBO can't understand why the grocery bill is so high when I go but it doesn't appear that I bought that much.

For you car guys - :)
Sure is hard to keep a low profile in a car that looks that good.

No NASCAR Today?
I know that Martinsville continues the tradition of short track racing that NASCAR was built on, but I really don't enjoy it. Give me Atlanta any day.

Everything you ever wanted to know about Senkos is at http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1121527643. I caught that one fishing the Senko weightless, using a 4/0 Gamakatsu G-Lock hook, rigged texposed. I cast it, let it drop vertically, and let it sit for a few seconds. I then lift it a foot or two and let it drop again. I fish it on a pretty slack line to allow it to drop as nearly vertical as possible. Because of that, I rarely feel the bass hit. I just see the line move off to the side. That's when I strike. Try it. You'll like it.

Torre and NYYankees Split
Steinbrenner doesn't deserve a class act like Torre.
