  1. Congrats, Thats really something to celebrate in this day and age where a lot of marriages don't last more than a few years. Hope you have many more.
  2. I first learned to drive at 13 on the farm. It is a lot less stressful if you don't have someone that knows how with you. Once you learn and try to teach someone it can be just as frustrating for you not to be able to tell you how to do it as them being the one learning and having the hard time. I had a hard time till my uncle told me let the clutch out slowly and give a little gas, let the clutch out more til you feel the truck start to roll, then ease the gas on down and ease the clutch the rest of the way out. AKA the teeter totter effect.

    I see one misspelled word. J/K ;D
  4. You are still better off than me, I would have had the pistol in one hand and some stained drawers in the other ;D
  5. I have used the saltwater version, for trout and red fish. They seem to be a little bit more durable. Also once you are done fishing with it you can put it back in the tub for use later. I have had just as much luck with them as I have the old style bagged gulp. If there is a fish there they will hit it.
  6. I may have to drop then, I will be at the beach that weekend, with no net access. :-/
  7. Muddy, I am fairly new here, but I look forward to your posts. I have found a great respect for you and where you come from in life. I hate to see you take a break for some jerk, but if you do I can respect that and will be looking for you.
  8. Hot off the press. The bait monkey is back in the good graces, the wife wants me to take her fishing in the morn, and she wants her own rod n reel. HMmm the possibilities.
  9. I have been trying and trying to catch a bass on a t-rig. I went out during lunch today and was throwing a 6 inch zoom lizard in green pumpkin around the drain. Still no luck. I then decided to throw it up againts the bank and drag into the weeds . First cast rolled it into the weeds and bam a boil on the surface. The bass was up under the weeds and hit it as soon as it hit the weeds. He was a dink maybe 12 inches, but I have some confidence that I was doing something right. I didn't have the camera with me, but called my wife to bring it to me and I am going back here in a little bit to try again. Hopefully I can update this with some pics later tonight.
  10. 16 ft crestliner aluminum, 30 hp johnson, 57 # motor guide great white ( I fish brackish water) garmin 160c. I love it, but want a bass boat for the lakes.
  11. I am currently fishing power pro on my spinning rod. I have been using about a 3 ft leader of mono for my lures and attaching it to the braid via snap swivel. Is this ok or can the fish see the difference. The braid is so limp I have a hard time t-rigging it. Thats why I am using a leader.
  12. I appreciate all of you guys just backing up my thoughts, I am not real confident with anything yet, and I am still getting skunked a lot but I am trying to apply the techniques that I have read and been told. I guess its just a matter of time. My toughest feat now is just my concentration level.
  13. Still trying to pick my jaw up off the floor. Maybe when I retire I can have a sweet ride like that. I am still trying to find a good bass boat.
  14. I have to shovel snow like once every blue moon here in NC, I would love the 80 degree floridian winters, but you can have that 200% humidity
  15. look under fishing rods reels and lines, there are some other posts there similar to yours and good luck with it.
  16. So the past two weeks the fever has hit me really hard, and I had the honor to be visited by the bait monkey. He came and stayed for two weeks and urged me to spend about $600 on him. Well last night my wife killed that darn thing and said his family is not welcome for a while as long as I want to stay at her house. I'm gonna miss that guy.
  17. Not that I can match some of the other ones, but my wife and I had been dating a few weeks and I had just met her parents. So me being the nice guy that I am I asked my father in law if he wanted to go fishing. So he drove for 2 hours to meet me in the hopes of going out for some sea trout and flounder. I drive about 45 min to the boat ramp I wanted to use, back the boat in the water and go to start her up. CRAP where are my keys. Well needless to say I had left them at home and had an hour and a half round trip to get us in the water. He laughed the whole way. I guess it was all ok he let me marry her.
  18. Tried it, but I didn't have any luck. I am seeing fish move in the water, but no hits whatso ever. I am starting to see that its not so much the fish, but the fisherman that have a problem with it. 30 min in 115 was about all I could stand. I am thinking I will try some top water tomorrow. I just want to have some success with my challenge and plastics. The pond is pretty clear in the middle with some rocky bottom, and a crap load of thick weeds along the edges. No pads and a few stumps on the end thats hard to get to.
  19. I would have to argue the fact of saltwater fisherman has declined. You wouldn't believe the amount of yahoo's on the water down here on the coast of NC. I still think they should make you take a course to operate a boat. Some of these guys are going to get hurt or hurt someone else. You got to start somewhere, but dang. Just last month they closed a great boatramp on Camp Lejeune, because some idiot backed his 2wdrive truck to far back and sunk his truck.
  20. I have found a place I can fish during my lunch break. Its 98 f here with a index of 115. I have heard the from older people that there is no point in fishing in this weather. What are the experiences you all have. I know if I don't go nothing can be gained, but is it worth my time?
  21. :-[ The only fish I get to eat are the ones at Long Johns, Red Lobster or if I cook them outside. My wife seems to think that the smell of fried fish stink up HER ( notice the caps there) house. So that limits me to Mahi, Wahoo, and Flounder. If I could only relay this to the bass maybe I could catch more.
  22. Thanks for all of the replies. That puts me more at ease. I am not having too many backlashes, its just an accuracy problem for me. I tend to cast sidearm as overhand doesn't feel right to me. I am going back out to a pond after work to try it out.
  23. I have just started using a baitcaster. Its a BP tournament edition on a 7ft m action ugly stick. The problem I am having with it is the fact that when I am using 1/2 oz or less on it my casts are hitting about 10-15ft to the left of my intended target. I have been using good ole kentucky windage on it, but is there something I need to adjust or is it me just being used to a spinning rod. Thanks

Some local guys have set me up on a trip for some snipes. They say they are some delicious birds. I can't wait. ;D Seriously though I deer hunt, and shoot a rabbit every now and then. This year the bass bug has bit and my hunting may be limited a bit.
