  1. The bad thing about my situation is ....... the bait monkey jumped off of my back, and onto my wife's this Christmas. She said after doing all that shopping for my gifts that she got the itch! ;D We went to BPS today so that I could spend the Gift cards I got from others, and she shopped in the bait section as long as I did. The first time she's ever walked out of there with a new rod/reel combo that I know of. ;D
  2. : : : That's just about the most silly thing I've heard all week. First of all Cougars have never been fearful of humans. That's about like saying a Tiger Shark should be scared of us if we get in the water. The problem is that us humans have started pouring into their homes. Not the other way around. We as humans think we need to own or occupy every piece of land on the continent, and that is our problem. It's our own arrogance that gets us into these situations to begin with. The animals are only doing what comes naturally to them. That's why they are at the top of the food chain. Most humans think that just because an animal is stronger than them that they need to 'kill it'. :-? Think of the rationality behind that for a second. Fear drives out emotions as humans!
  3. I doubt you really mean that since the only 'encounter' most people have with cougars is when they've already pounced on them from a ledge above. Like I stated earlier .... unless you know how to hunt them don't do it. These are animals that have survived for thousands of years by their ability to elude and evade humans. Then their is the fact that they are descendants of the saber toothed tiger family. We've all seen artist's depictions of how many early humans it took to take one of those bad boys down. If you hear either of these two sounds then you'd better be a praying man. ;D http://www.sound-effect.com/sounds1/animal/BigCats/cougar7.wav http://www.sound-effect.com/sounds1/animal/BigCats/cougar.wav
  4. I didn't hit the link, but I love watching those guys. I have all of Bam's 'Viva La Bam' seasons, and they all keep me rolling when I re-watch them. Is Don Vito in Jackass 2.5 at all?
  5. You'd better check with your local Wildlife resources before you kill it. Mountain lions and cougars are on the protected list in some states. That's the last thing you need is to have to appear in court over killing a protected animal. No offense meant at all, and take this lightly because I am not trying to offend you or anyone else. But, I have a few questions for you. First, what makes you think it was a mountain lion. Next, what makes you think you can track and kill a mountain lion? The reason I ask this is because I am a wildlife biologist, and I know what these animals are capable of. They are capable of a full on charge of 25+ miles an hour, and the next thing you know you have your throat ripped out or are bleeding from 2 inch deep cuts in your face or sides! These animals are not to be taken lightly. With cougars YOU are food, and that puts you right at the bottom of the food chain. Imagine a cat that an weigh as much as 150 pounds, and span a full 8 ft. long from nose to hind quarters. Although, it is highly unlikely that you would even find a cougar in a days time. They hunt anywhere from a 20 to 50 mile radius in a weeks time. Do your research, and after that consider all of your options. It was Sun Tzu who said "Know your enemy!" You can't go into a cougar hunt without ever doing it, or you could easily become dinner for the kitties. ;D These animals are as likely to track you after you think you have started tracking them. They are equally as dangerous as Kodiak or Grizzly bears.
  6. :'( :'( Not something I sold, but I just found out a few hours ago that my Grandparents, who are in their 80's, just sold the family vacation property and cabin. :'( :'( The thing that gets me is that they never mentioned to anyone they were selling it until after they signed the papers. I still can't figure that one out! When I say 'no one' I mean they didn't mention it to ANYONE in the family! The thing that bites me in the tail, and that I keep slapping myself over, is that they only sold it for $50,000! I could have scraped that up in a couple of days, but for some unknown reason they sold it to someone else. > For a cabin that is only 7 years old, and a prime piece of riverfront property someone got a steal!!! Oh well! I will probably never know why they never mentioned it to me, but I'm sure they were tired of being burdened with the upkeep of it. Kind of comes as a sad feeling at the best time of the year.
  7. Playing an instrument and siging are in no way related to ONES ABILITY TO SEE! PAVOROTTI IS OK thats like saying Miachaelangelo's David is a nice statue!!!!!!! Pavorotti was the greatest Tenor I will ever see in my life, even though he didnt wear glasses I don't knw where people get this crap form but being blind doesnt make you a better or worse musican, you are just a muscian who can't see GGEEEZZZZZ!!!!!!!!! That's your opinion! My opinion is that Andrea Bocelli is better than Pavarotti was in his time.
  8. Pavarotti is o.k. He has stated on several occasions that his former student, Andrea Bocelli, is a force to be recognized. So much that Pavarotti refused to sing in the same programs as Bocelli. ;D Another thing that makes Bocelli a better vocalist, in my opinion, is the fact that he is blind. Pavarotti was a great vocalist, however.
  9. I have mine on 1440 X 900, but I have a widescreen monitor. I think 1280 X 960 is standard for ,most message boards.
  10. I like how they dug up that Toto classic, and mixed it into the performance.
  11. It looks like one of Pablo Escobar's old strongholds. That would be one heck of a compound! My biggest problem would be how to get my truck up there with my boat! ;D
  12. ;D ;D ;D Nah ..... I'm just curious. Anything she gets me will be fine. ALthough, I've had my eye on a TD Zillion for the past few months. If she got me that I would be tickled pink. ;D
  13. Well, I was talking to Dave Stewart this past week, and he thinks that the pre-spawn will be good this year for Largemouth around Mid-March to Mid-April. Then, he said, between April 20 to the beginning of May will be the spawn. I don't think we'll have any shortage of water this next season. We have had 6+ inches of rain in Western Kentucky this month. The Ohio & Green River are at least 4 feet above Winter Pool right now. The Ohio is busting at the seams with water on the Indiana side reaching as far as 1 mile inland. I sure hope the Tennessee and Cumberland are doing the same! That way maybe we can send some water down your way. I'll be at Kentucky Lake for 7 days somewhere between April 10th and 25th. The wife and I plan on meeting one of my buddies and his wife from Oklahoma to do some fishing. I'll let you know when the time gets closer to see if you are still interested, and we could meet up to wrestle some hawgs! ;D
  14. Assuming not all of you pick out your own Christmas presents .... What would be the best thing your wife or girlfriend could buy you for CHristmas that has to do with fishing? Try and keep it reasonable, and don't say "A brand new $45,000 bass boat!" ;D ;D Within reason ... what could she get you to make it all worth the wait?
  15. If we're talking about cars then I have a doozy. When I was 16 my Dad made me sell my hot rod because of too many tickets. I sold it to my cousin who promised to sell it back when I turned 18, but he totaled it, and ended up spending 2 months in the hospital. It was a '73 Malibu Laguna w/ a 427 Rocket bored 40 over, Competition shift kit, competition cam, Edelbrock Intake, Competition traction bars, and a 4 barrel Holley Dominator carb. She would literally take your breath away at get you to 60 in less than 4 seconds flat! Then I had a '66 GTo in Candy Apple Red with Silver Racing Stripes I traded to my Uncle for a pick up to drive back to college in. : I got screwed on that deal! ;D Here is my latest regret! I sold it for chump change because the wife was worried I'd kill myself. :
  16. I've sold several things I regret selling later. 1) I sold #2 off the production line of a .357 Magnum Colt Python that I needed to sell to make room. 2) 1 International Harvester and 1 Remington produced M1 Garand in pristine condition. 3) 2 -WWII German Mausers with SS markings and 'Death's heads' in original condition. 4) An original Kentucky Long Rifle hand made in 1753.
  17. That stuff does happen a lot. That's why I always pay attention when I buy line. I bought a couple of spools at Gander Mountain awhile back. Got them home, and they looked a little 'thin'. So, I compared them to a new spool I had ordered, and they were probably about 100 yards low on each spool. Evidently someone took them back after spooling up, and got their money back. >
  18. I agree! Citicas are excellent reels for the money, and they are very forgiving for the beginner. I was going to suggest either the Citica or Abu Garcia Revo S. Both are good reels for the money.
  19. Where are you over there? I have a little brother at FOB Kalsu.
  20. I'm sorry, but to have that many lights you need to have at least snow on the ground. We have people here that do it, but they arrange it a lot better than that guy did. Kind of looks trashy if you ask me. It looks like he went and bought up Wal-Mart's Christmas yard ornaments, and decided to just throw them out there in random order. ;D Pellet guns at 2 a.m. will do the trick. ;D ;D
  21. It looks like a Rapala brand scale, and they are good scales to have. It wouldn't hurt to buy one. After all, if you get it and don't like it you can always send it back. Cabelas is excellent with exchanges.
  22. No kidding? I'm sorry, but I have a high dislike for Mustangs and Fords in general. Mustangs are a dime a dozen around here. Every Daddy's Girl with a license drives a new Mustang where I live. I honestly get tired of hearing them try and race each other with stock engines and racing mufflers. ;D ;D It's pretty bad when you can outrun one with a 6 cylinder Toyota Highlander! In my opinion, before too long, Mustangs will be on the same production status as what the Pintos were at one time. I love the new Corvettes. You can see the new prototype at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY where they make them.
