  1. ;D I'm with you there!!! Someday soon, I reckon. 8-)
  2. My mom once caught a fishing pole that had a fish attached to it
  3. I never have that problem. I will respool twice (max) on a line spool then I'll lose it or I'll move on to a different type of line. ;D I'm too loose with my tackle money haha I realized the one thing that really trips my trigger: when the fish start biting a certain color/type of soft bait, then I run out. That's ok, now I just make sure I buy at least 2 of everything
  4. I'm going out either tomorrow or Tues. I don't care if I catch anything I just need to get out there on shoreline and see my favorite pit. I don't think I'll tell anyone I'm going fishing though, I'll just say I'm going "casting". ;D
  5. Nice fish. Now my cabin fever is even worse!! ;D
  6. I don't feel so silly now. My smallest was like 11-12".
  7. I'm looking to fish the BFL Okie tournament at Grand Lake. It'll be my first tournament and I'm not sure I wanna commit to the whole series yet. Anybody needing a co-angler? 8-)
  8. I've been around boats some in my lifetime but I may finally have the opportunity to buy one. It's a 1978 18ft Arrowglass trihull with a 90hp merc, dual console, motor has good comp (135psi) and runs good also has tilt/trim, has a trolling motor, livewells, fish finder, and comes with a trailer. All of this for only $1650. Sounds almost too good to be true; what do I need to look for when I check this puppy out? Anything in particular? Anybody ever owned or heard anything about these? I'm excited, I hope it works out ;)
  9. I plan on being there
  10. Same thing I'm wondering... :-?
  11. We don't get that very often in KS, do we?
  12. I could make an appearance depending on the time and the place.
  13. Wow that's a really cool program! I wish Kansas would do something like that.
  14. There's a strip pit lake close by that is stocked with trout (rainbow and brown i believe). I figure now that bass fishing is slowing down I might buy a trout stamp and try my hand at it but I know ZERO about fishing for trout, I've tried looking online and all I can find is fly fishing information. Any good info? What type of baits? Where in a lake would they usually reside? When are they most active? Any other tips? They ok to lip? I know nothing about trout... thanks!
  15. The last gar that came near a boat I was in took a swift blow to the head from my oar. Couldn't believe he went after a spook :-? Gross fish. And if they land in the boat, they're usually pretty upset with you
  16. Just Kansas (resident). Next yr I'm sure I'll get OK and MO. This year I didn't get much fishing in down south so I only got one 5-day OK license...
  17. The best way I've found to feel whats going on with a spinning outfit is to put your rod holding hand up above the reel and reel the line through your fingers gently, you should be able to feel that distinct "tug tug" (or as I call it, the "thump thump") when you're getting bit at. This works awesome for soft plastics. The best bite to detect though of course is the topwater so get out there early in the morning and give that a shot. That first time you see a largemouth inhale your pop-r and dive hard, you'll be hooked for life!
  18. http://wichita.craigslist.org/boa/438455869.html I'm eyeballin that one in wichita, if only I had a good method to tow it. Sounds like a good start for you, File mob!
  19. We tried using the alum welding rod to fix my buddy's jon boat and it didn't work all that well. We tried scuffing up the alum and laying it on and it still didnt wanna stick, just kept fallin off Your only option will probably be to get it welded up like you said.
  20. Craigslist is usually the best bet on this kinda stuff. Sometimes if you ebay it and set it to only show results within xx number of miles from you, you can find some sweet deals.
  21. This is one of my favorite strip pits, but I regularly fish like 15 others in the area. I don't have any pics of my other home lake right now.
  22. I've only kept fish one time in my life, when I went catfishing with some other guys. Other than that I'm strictly C&R. I don't like to eat fish, smell fish, cook fish. I just catch em (and most the time I aint too good at doin that ;D). Nothin wrong with keepin em so long as they're legal, that's just not my bit.
  23. Ditto. I'll add that if you hear banjo music, just quietly leave the area. ;D Aint that the truth
  24. Lifetimes here in KS are like $460. The only reason I'm tempted to get one is in case I move out of state and wish to come back, it would suck to pay NR rates.
  25. I'm strictly C&R so I don't pay *alot* of attn to the regs, and I wouldn't one to say anything to anyone; primarily because I'm not the biggest guy in the world, I usually fish alone, and most of my fishing is in remote areas so I don't wanna come up missing . KDWP enforcement is a joke, I've never been asked for a license, and I don't see much of a presence from them so I just kind of let whatever go by. If it was an extreme encroachment I'd probably call local police but otherwise I let it go. I guess it's tough to really know until I'm in that situation.
