Went out for some smallmouth today and we got what we wanted! The first fish I hooked up with was without a doubt my biggest smallie... I thought I was on the bottom until I felt her head shake, then

Shane and I got out today, fished a new sport for the first time and put together an alright day. Lots of pickerel, some pretty small bass but I did manage my biggest fish of the year SO FAR at 6lbs o

OK thought they were still open after the deal went through but with new owners.

So according to there website they moved the store to coneticut which is unfortunate I was going to that store at 12 years old begging people for tides. It was a great spot

Anyone else make it to BPS in Hookset for the sale yet ? Went Saturday and picked up a ton a plastics on sale. Got a few deals on some crankbaits and picked up a couple of Whopper Ploppers. The winter time blues were calmed for a day :)

"Ice in" finally happened on Winni but I wouldn't trust the thickness near any of the "broad" areas. The derby is 27-28 so it will be interesting how much of a area the ice will be thick enough to even walk on. I won't be able to make it this year.

Just throwing this out there, but what are everyone's plans for June 1st, when we can no longer fish jigs? Besides move. Obviously moving, but what about until we move? Who the heck is making good quality, non-lead jigs? I talked to my boy at Moaner, and he says it is possible to get custom jigs made (Enraged Jig), but it'd have to be in huge orders, so we all gotta get our crap together, and do a massive jig order. Man, I'm getting REAL sick of this state.

This place has a creature bait i like, Delta,Kentucky and PB&J colors , and some jigs that i like also   http://www.tacklesmith.com/Product.aspx?ProductID=7417

I picked up some lead free jigs at BPS Hooksett. The selection was crap, but I mean they need to step it up come June. They had a few companies, but the ones I picked up were Lunkah Huntah brand. They make them in Natick MA I think. I also found a category on Tackle Warehouse that had lead free jigs too. Heres a link- http://www.***.com/Non_Lead_Jigs/catpage-NONLEADJIG.html

Don't know what your looking for but I bought some tube and round jig heads from this site. I don't need tungsten for some of my set ups but the tube jigs and round heads look decent from what I got. The only down side is when powder coating you have to keep it under 250 degrees bismuth melts at 280.

Other then this I have been doing the eBay purchases and some close out colors jigs on tackle warehouse and just making my the skirt color I want. Walmart near me put the 1/4 and 3/8 tungsten worm weights on the reduce rack for $5 for pack of 3 so I bought a bunch there.

I thought the ban was for 1 oz or more of lead? I'm pretty sure that was the statute I read, so unless your deep sea fishing you should be ok..I think a total ban goes into place in 3 yeas or so.

Its for one ounce and under June 1st no matter if its on a hook or powdered coated. Spinner baits and bladed baits from what I read are ok to use.

Shane, Contact Mike at Siebert outdoors.  He'll work with you & try to give you what your looking for.  His lead free jigs are top notch, good quality with a good strong hook.

It is a small % , but it is still a %.    Similiar reason lead was banned in house paint in the 70s

Good point NashuaNev I was a ardent hater of this law when it start phasing in 5 yrs ago 5 yrs has passed more then enough time for my tackle box to be clean of it. Remember lead also effects ducks & goose that are bottom feeders but are not endangered like the Loon. hawks, eagles and many more animals that eat fish/aquatic birds that might have lead fish weight in them, Death usually happens from a total system shock within one week of ingestion. I was a non believer till I went to a seminar and was shown xrays after xrays of dead wild life with hook weights in them. Remember when you get a licence it's a privilege not a right.

i was curious so i looked it up. even selling them will be a 250$ fine.   http://www.pressherald.com/2013/07/02/to-protect-loons-n_h_-bans-lead-fishing-tackle-they-ingest_2013-07-03/

Yeah, I won't be breaking any laws, I can assure you of that.

I understand why the law is being implemented, but this is like a really huge step for a lot of anglers in New Hampshire.  Considering all my jigs are lead (won't be using them anymore) I now need to go buy a whole new arsenal.  The problem I see is that other states still allow the usage of lead jigs, which doesn't give the market to much incentive to push towards non-lead jigs.  That just makes non-lead jigs that much more expensive.  Just a hassle, nothing too serious. #SaveTheLoons

I have talked about in in other posts. the best thing to legally do with your old lead jigs in NH, will be to turn them into blade baits or chatterbaits.  once you put a blade on them from my understanding it will be considered a spinnerbait.  did not mean to offend anyone or say break the law.

Mass is lead free too, I've been using mags jigs which are lead free. They sell them on tw and bass pro. Pretty sure these guys are local too.
