Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)

Featured Replies

Hey NH guys,

It is still going to be a few more weeks, but the ponds and lakes in southern NH are beginning to open up. What are the first baits you guys plan to throw this spring when targeting icy-cold largemouth?

Went out for some smallmouth today and we got what we wanted! The first fish I hooked up with was without a doubt my biggest smallie... I thought I was on the bottom until I felt her head shake, then

Shane and I got out today, fished a new sport for the first time and put together an alright day. Lots of pickerel, some pretty small bass but I did manage my biggest fish of the year SO FAR at 6lbs o

  • What's up, everyone?! Figured I'd bounce on here, say hi. I got so tied up in chasing fish this year, I forgot to do anything else. I hope you all are happy and healthy in this new year, and have big

Well, going to be heading out this weekend onto the Nashua River to check out some spots and run some electronics and see what I can see. I will report back any info I got. Usually start finding Pickerel and the some smaller bass with a jerkbait around this time of year, but we'll see. Anyone ever fish Otternic in Hudson NH? Is it any good?

I fished it probably 7 years ago. Not worth the time. I'm pretty sure they kill the weeds often there.

Otternic is on the rebound,  let me know how you do.

Nashua river is big and tough to learn.  it has a lot of hidden underwater structure.

It has some really nice bass.

Well, I went out Saturday onto the Nashua, and not surprisingly it was pretty quiet out there. Didn't expect any thing really, so I wasn't let down. A day of bad fishing is better than no fishing. Spent most of the time running my electronics around the Tilton st. area, heading down towards the dam and going up and stopping near Bartemus Brook. Water temps were at 35. Was nice to get a better look at the river floor, seeing where the drop offs are and I even found some new structures way down deep I didn't even know were there. Got a nice collection of waypoints for spring. Fingers crossed this next storms the last winters got lol.

How do the Huddlestons do up here in NH? I've seen people fishing them online ,but mostly out west coast and sown south.

They work well in the right areas

Just as effective in the Northeast.I would go with the Yellow Perch pattern.Low and slow in the cold water.

Not a bass, but a good sign I'll be on them soon. Last few years its been Perch to start with, then Pickrel and then the Bass. So at least things are moving right along.  Spent a few hours Friday, on the Nashua River, searching around with a jerkbait (Rapala shadow rap). 2perch.thumb.png.64100e9a7a35fffcdba4ce4ba62f6005.png

What lakes are open in southeast Nh if any right now. I live in raymond nh and need to get some practice in before my trail starts in tr he end of april

No giants yet in Maine, but I caught my first fish in February, and caught 5 yesterday. The string of mild days pulls fish up out of the winter holes very quickly.

Starting to open up in southeast NH. My 1st trip will be 4/8 on massbessic man I'm stoked

Happy Spring gentlemen!  I was going to do a big write up with all the fishing that I have been doing and my results, but I opted for the lazy way out; I am going to just quickly post a screenshot of my log thus far for 2018.  The fishing hasn't been too great, but I cannot complain!

Very true, Nev! I did leave the locations of where I fished out of the screenshot, but I can tell you the first location which accounts for my first two log entries.  Round Pond, Nashua NH.  It was the only place that was unfrozen at the time.  The third log entry is from Robinson Pond, Hudson NH.  The last entry is a place that is close to my heart :D

How is Robinson Pond if you don't mind me asking? I am moving to Hudson at the end of the month and my house is about 5 minutes away.

I know it is pressured, but it is a fairly large body of water too.  I believe NH Fish and Game have it at 130 acres.  I have never personally put too much time into it so I cannot say too much about it.  I have no doubt that some of the guys within this forum have put some serious time on Robinson though.

Does anyone have any information on Robinson Pond in Hudson NH?

Thanks RMcD. Bummer on the pressure, but like you said it is fairly large. It does give a little more of a challenge too.

Hey kroberts9, do you know if the Candia road boat ramp is open? I will probably see you there on Sunday.

Next to the church I don't  think it is since deerneck cartop was locked as of 4/2. Claire's landing off exit 2 on 101 is good to go. My buddy and I will be there from 8am to 1ish if all goes well. We will be in a Jon boat all decked out with a fishfinder. You can't miss me I'm in the simms jacket and bib

That is good to know as it saves me from driving all around, Thanks. I am hoping to get there around 10am and will be in the Nitro with my fiance and dog. I'm sure we'll see each other. Good luck!
