what is a mojo rig?

Featured Replies

Can someone tell me what a mojo rig is, or better you post a photo of the rig. Is the mojo rig something new or used in a different part of the country than I am in? Thanks.

Mojo rig = dropshot rig with a an elastic leader

Yup, instead of making your leader with your line you tie an elastic leader, you can purchase a ready to use rig from Mojo Lures, btw, try Mojo 's Salty Reefers, they are great baits.

The original Mojo rig is is just a version of the split shot rig using the Mojo brand slip sinker pegged to the line with a rubber band.

Mojo sinkers are long and thinso that the sinker shape allows a mojo rig to slide easily through rocks, weeds, and brush better than most other sinker types. Mojo rigs also work for vertical fishing in deep water where baits are suspended for bass in or under the tops of flooded trees and brush. They are part of a system htat inlcudes rubber strands that thread through the sinker to peg it from 12-24 inches up the main line above the bait. The rubber strands cushion the line from any potential damage that can occur with wooden toothpicks or crimping splitshots on the line.

The mojo rig that I am accustom to is like VA said, a small version of the Carolina rig. Great in the weeds and cover. Put a trick worm or a 4" lizard on the end.

This is what I have always went with? Just a finesse Carolina rig to me.
