Your thoughts on this lure

Featured Replies

Is it just supposed to imitate schooling baitfish?

It looks a little overdone imo.

What type of application would that bait be used for? Doesn't appear to be any type of lure I would use or spend money on.

I'd throw it.Yeah it seems a little overdone but I like goofy things like that. You never know until you try it. :)

Some of these r-tards with these reviews on BPS kill me sometimes...

;D

Do you use spinners?  It's the same concept, looking to attract fish to what they see as multiple baitfish.  When have you ever just seen one minnow by itself?  Great idea, I just would be weary about BPS brand quality.

Finatic, what are your thoughts on the lure's quality?  You gonna get another one?  And I agree, if its not a senko then most of these guys wouldn't know what to do.

Fin@tic was talking about the reviews on BPS, I don't think he bought one.

No I didn't buy one. I removed the "quote" I pasted from that page.Never know that guy could be a member here LOL.

Basically if you like experiementing with weird or different things then yeah I'd give it a shot if I had a few bucks to kick around for something new.

Well I never had such a hard time spending 25 bucks so I decided to give one a shot. I got the Chartreuse Shad. I'll report my success if I have any.

I just got the 2010 catalog and this was on page one of the lure section.

At first glance I thought it would be a great thing, and was all set to order one of the XXX shad color, but then I thought about how they rig up and decided to wait on some reviews instead.

They rig up by passing the line thru the front lure, out the back and then tying onto the rear lure at the nose.  The front lure is a floater, the rear lure is a sinker.

What if you get a strike on the front lure??  How do you set the hook since it's essentially a slip floater in design??  Seems to me you'd have to reel in the rear lure until it made contact with the front lure before you'd get a good hook set.  I could be wrong though.  Being a treble hook and the way I set hooks it might be better if the line slips some as I drive it home.  Keep from pulling out the hook maybe??

Mostly though, I don't like how the front lure slides up and down on the line.  Seems this would fray up the line or possibly weaken it.  So I figured if I get into the double lure rigging that I'll find another way to rig it up instead.

I saw these in BPS the other day and glanced at it...

honestly didnt look like the quality was great on the paint etc... but if you want to try it go for it and let us know...

as for the line slipping through you could always put a stopper on your line how ever far you wanted the back lure to fall right??  that might be effective

This might work. I've used a small surface plug as a float with a leader from the rear split ring to a fly or small jig. This rig catches pan-fish and the occasional dink.

Yeah you could do that to control the rear lure's falling depth but my concern is what stops it from slipping the other way on a hook set?? Another stopper?? Would that be enough to make it hold and drive the hook in?? And if so, would the stopper go up inside the tube of the front bait and get stuck??

I don't set the hook with trebles, but I would think when the trailing bait comes up and hits the floater it would drive the hook deeper like hitting a nail with a hammer. Or it could knock it out of the fishes mouth, who knows.

Well, I know there are a lot of people who don't do a traditional hook set with trebles, but here you wouldn't even have the same resistance you'd have if the lure were tied to the end of the line.  It would be even less than normal resistance so my question is how do you get any hook penetration at all??
