I don't use them.  I make my own and in different sizes to match small, medium, and large plastics.  They are easy to make with some 26g wire.  $3 worth of wire will last you a lifetime.

And yes they hold baits in place.

Don't know how they work; Don't know why they work - they just work.  I usually keep both the small ones and the larger one's in my tackle box - esp when I am fishing in a lot of grass or brush piles.

Try 'em - you'll like 'em.

Weights with a clip that uses the hook to help "peg" the weight.

I was thinking of adding some weights to my plastics this year but thought I might try to just get some small trim nails to insert in the lures.  They're cheap enough, and I already have a lot of them laying around here.  Might fly out on me though, don't know yet cause I never tried them before.

For me, they are too much hassle, and unnecessary. 

i like the parasite weights... 1/2oz for pitchin light to the bank. esp beavers.
