Citica For $120 Worth It

Featured Replies

My local Walmart may have the Citica 200e in a very limited supply. If this reel is priced around $120 is it worth buying or is there better out there around the same price? What if its $100 does that make it more enticing?

You can get a curado off ebay for about 130 with free shipping, even better if you check the classifieds at times on the forums...Ive seen them as low as 80 bucks

I paid 79 for my citica from DSG new...If I had to pay 120 Id just add the extra on for the curado

I've bought citca e's from Dicks when they were $50, so from my prospective I wouldn't spend more than that for any of them.

Wouldn't even consider one for that price. Weren't they $119 when they were new??

It's a great reel at $50-60 and a good reel at $61+ but goes south soon after that.

im with the rest the guys for that much add a few bucks and go up a notch i got my citica for under 50 at dicks last spring. For an extra 10 bucks u can get a curado off ebay like said or buy a real reel and get a revo sx for just 10 bucks more or even a revo s and save 20 bucks for lures.

now that i started the war with the posse its time to go to bed haha

I bought 4 on clearance. That said, now that I have them, if I needed a reel, it is worth the $119.00. If you are handy, you can add a ball bearing to the base of the driveshaft and have a reel that is comparable to the new $200 Chronarch.

$90 is about all I would spend on the e series citica. I prefer my e over the g series, But wouldn't spend any extra $$ for it.

The MSRP on them when they were he curren model was $119. Was a great buy then. Now, you can get them far, far cheaper. Still one of my favorite reels.

If you have a Gander Mountain near you check there for Citica 200E reels. Ours still have several for $80.00. It is a great reel for the money. I have had three for four years, in which I put ABEC 7 bearings and they are still smooth as can be and that is due to Shimano's simplicity of design and parts reliability. It is basically a scaled back version of the Curado 200E, which is nice because numerous parts are interchangeable between the reels. With proper maintenance they will last you for many years.

Hey Cody,

If you take an ad from another box store that has a lower price in, they will probably match it.

Try it...

And where is this Gander?

Bought my 2 brand new for $80 apiece and you can still find them for close to that. So I wouldn't eve consider an E series Citica unless it was $90 or less.

And where is this Gander?

If you want the closest one locally its in WPB, I-95 and Northlake, which isnt much farther north of that DSG you went to. I have seen them there priced down also not that long ago. There were some at that DSG that were 79.99 + 25% off but 201 versions

My Gander is in Frederickburg, VA.
