1 In A Million [Pictures!]

Featured Replies

I want to start this off by saying this experience happened about 4 years ago, and I thought that I could just share this memory with everyone. It was Tuesday in the Okefenokee Swamp. We went up on Monday and went out the next day. We put our Riverhawk in the water about 7:00 am, and we just went along the banks to see if we could catch some bass, well to our lack of knowledge about the mudfish in that swamp we had no idea of what we were catching till we found out the next day. Back to the story, we were catching some bass, allot of mudfish, and some chain pickerel. But what the fun part was is whenever we had a fish on we would have to reel it in really fast because of the alligators. I mean there were just so many of them, they would even come about 3 feet away from the boat! And this is where it gets interesting. We started hearing some commotion in the woods, we thought it was just a deer playing around. The deer ran straight into the water and there was an alligator right in front of it! The alligator took the deer by its back and I felt a shiver on my back when that deer screamed, I mean it was something you would only see on YouTube if not Discovery Channel. And what we heard from the rangers when we told them about this is that the alligators will take the deer and put them under a log and let the body decay, and there will be reports of deer carcasses floating down the swamp. But back to the rest of the story. After we took the pictures of the deer being death rolled they both vanished. We were kinda freaked out because we didn't know if they were going to come back up and hit the boat ( this was not even 10 feet in front of us). We never saw them again but astonishingly we heard something else in the woods running, it was a huge black bear! The reason we were so surprised about that to is because we were wondering if we would see any bears while we were there. Later that day we showed the pictures of the alligator and the deer, and the black bear to the park rangers and they were amazed. They told us that a black bear would never get that close to that water, let alone stand in the water on the bank. I am sorry that this not a recent fishing trip, but I think that this is one I will never forget, and the reason why is because I shared that experience with my brother and my dad. As always have a nice day. Will post pictures soon. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!!!!!

That's a really interesting fishing trip. I usually am surprised to even see a deer over here, I couldnt imagine seeing a deer, alligator, and a bear!

The deer over at Okefenokee are not scared of people at all. They will go into your site and look at you haha. Which is bad though because that usually means that people feed them and that's bad.

My yahoo account got locked for 12 hours because I put in the wrong email several times. Although I made a new email and my dad sent all of the pictures to it and it took him about 30 minutes to send. So it will probably take a wile to download them from my email, or even receive them. Sorry for the wait guys but right when they download I will post them. I will be up all night so I will get them.

Stupid deer lol he obviously was not thinking straight

Well the bear chased him in. The bear went to the exact spot the deer came through. I have a picture where the alligator is close to the bear and the bear is looking at it. Right after it started going towards it, the bear booked it lol.

Haha, yep.

Man I would have paid any amount of money to have been on that boat with you huts and see what you saw, that is amazing.

I haven't seen anything like that not even on Nat geo.

Funny thing is that the deer really thought it was gonna make it across the lake, or it was thinking better to die by the gators in water than the bear on land.
